Cotton industry in flames

Bhaktapur, Sept 22: A fire broke out early morning at the Manakamana Cotton Industry in Balkot of ward no. 2 in Surya Binaya municipality this morning. The fire reportedly began at around 5:00 am before workers had arrived.

The Industry is run by Sarita Chaulagain of Dingla in ward no. 4 of Shadananda municipality-4, Bhojpur. The reason behind the fire is not yet known, but it spread across rapidly after LPG cylinder inside the factory caught fire and exploded, according to police.

Fire tender machines from Kathmandu and Bhaktapur, aided by Nepal Police, Nepali Army and local residents put out the fire, according to metropolitan police range, Thimi.

Cotton made out of old clothes, old clothing, machine, tools and other goods were gutted in the fire, according to DSP Shanti Raj Koirala. The reason behind the fire is not known, and an investigation has been launched into it.

Initial estimates show that property worth Rs. 2.5 million was gutted in the fire.
