Financial assistance provided to family of late journalist Baniya

Tanahu: Financial assistance arranged by Nepal-America Journalist Association has been handed over to the family of late journalist Balaram Baniya of Kantipur Publications.

A total of Rs 431,951 was handed over to the family of late Baniya from Mirlung village of Bhanu Municipality-13 in Tanahun district on 13th day of Baniya’s demise.

President of Federation of Nepali Journalists, Govinda Acharya, provided the amount to late Baniya’s daughter Sushmita Baniya on Sunday here in Tanahun.

Acharya said that Association arranged the financial support at the initiative of FNJ for the education of Baniya’s two kids. He expressed the commitment that the FNJ would take initiative for their education in the days to come.

On the occasion, Acting Chairperson of Press Council Nepal Kishor Shrestha, Council Member Khil Bahadur Bhandari, FNJ Gandaki State Committee Chair Tribhuvan Shrestha, Tanahun Chairperson of FNJ Omkar Acharya and others extended condolences to the bereaved family members.

Journalist Baniya, who had gone missing on August 10 from Kathmandu, was found dead in Makawanpur on August 12.
