Humla, July 6: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the Karnali corridor will be developed as a trade route with China and India.
The PM said that the Karnali corridor is not only important for Karnali and Humla residents but also serve as a trade route with two neighbouring countries. Oli added that the road will be upgraded to a two-lane blacktop road.
Inaugurating a bailey-bridge constructed over the Chuwakhola (river) of Kharpunath Rural Municipality in Humla district on Sunday, the PM mentioned that a motorable bridge will soon be constructed over Chuwakhola along the Karnali corridor.
The bailey-bridge there now connects the Humla district headquarters to the Karnali corridor after 26 years of the beginning of the road network.
On the occasion, PM Oli expressed happiness for Humla district headquarters Simkot’s linkage to the national road network.
Stating that the bailey-bridge was constructed to connect Humla to the national road network and take it upto the tri-junction point, PM Oli pledged to lead the nation towards prosperity by completing the construction of a motorable bridge there.
The PM said that the road will be upgraded even by applying different measures amid hardships.
Likewise, the PM promised to establish quarantine point at Hilsa, the border point of Nepal and China, stating that there is an immense potential for trade and business.
Also to do business with a neighbouring country, a quarantine office should be immediately established, the PM stated.
The bailey-bridge was fixed by the Nepali Army in a three month. PM Oli reached Kharpunath from Kathmandu by a helicopter of Nepali Army.
The PM was warmly welcomed by the local people upon his visit there.
Present on the occasion were Defence Minister Manbir Rai, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal, Chief of Karnali Province Yagyaraj Joshi, Chief Minister of Karnali Province Yamlal Kandel, Chief of Army Staff Ashokraj Sigdel and other officials.

Dalit community’s strong participation in all state organs stressed
Kathmandu, July 6: Leaders of different political parties have demanded that an equal participation of Dalit community in the state organs be ensured on the basis of population.
At an interaction programme on ‘Dalit Movement, Inclusive Policy and Role of Mass Media’ organized here today by National Dalit Journalist Association Nepal, the speakers argued that there was a weak presence of Dalit community in the state organs including in the executive, judiciary and legislative.
Vice Chairperson of Nepal Samajwadi Party (Naya Shakti) Durga Sob urged for a meaningful participation of Dalit community in every state body.
Chairperson of Association and Constituent Assembly Member Binod Pahadi stated that the commitment made to ensure equal participation of Dalit community in all state organs was not implemented in practice.
Pahadi added that participation of Dalit community in federal parliament was on the declining trend.
Presently, the participation of Dalit community is just 5.81 per cent in the House of Representatives.
Likewise, Janata Samajwadi Party leader and Constituent Assembly Member Kamala Bishwakarma said that the constitutional rights of the Dalit community should be implemented in practice.
Also speaking at the event, Chairperson of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Nirmala Sharma stated that the FNJ was completely inclusive and said that we need to move ahead by conducting a study of cases of the post-reservation in regard to the Dalit issues.
Activist and journalist Chakraman Bishwakarma said that the participation of Dalit should be ensured in the state-owned media outlets.

22- Speaker Bista urges journalists to write for social change
Morang, July 6: Speaker of Koshi Province Assembly, Ambar Bahadur Bista, has said media persons could write for elevating the living standard of backward people for social change.
At a program organized to hand over a prize instituted by the Naradmuni Pabitradevi Luitel Memorial Trust here Sunday, Speaker Bista said journalism is an effective medium to raise public awareness against social ills like child marriage, violence against women, discrimination, and dowry.
Reporter to the BBC media, Bikram Niraula, was conferred the ‘Jhil Kumari Luitel Memorial Award’ on the occasion.
Bista remembered that the Luitel family has played a significant role in development of health and education sectors in the eastern belt of the country.

23- DPM Paudel inspects Lumbini Provincial Hospital: 26 per cent physical progress
Lumbini, July 6: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel inspected the under-construction building of the Lumbini Provincial Hospital at Butwal on Sunday.
During the visit, DPM Paudel also took stock of the progress achieved so far in the construction.
CEO at the Infrastructure Development Authority, Lumbini Province Chabbiraj Pokharel, apprised the visiting DPM that construction of hospital had achieved 26 per cent physical progress so far.
According to him, the 1,200-bed hospital was set to become the biggest and most advanced health facility in the country. He pledged completing the construction of the hospital one year ahead of its deadline. He further informed that basements of the buildings completing soon.
On the occasion, DPM Paudel instructed the concerned authorities for the timely construction of the hospital without compromising the quality. The DPM was accompanied by former Chief Minister of the Lumbini Province, Leela Giri, and former Health Minister and Province Assembly member, Bhoj Prasad Shrestha, among others.
The estimated cost of the hospital, considered to be a pride project of Lumbini Province government, along with two buildings, equipment and other internal management is over Rs 8.99 billion.
The Indian company Campasite and Nepali Companies Ashish Construction and Religarewere awarded contract for the undertaking.
The construction contract was signed on January 11, 2023 while the construction began a mother after the signing. The contractors are expected to accomplish the construction within January 9, 2028, said CEO Subedi.
The buildings of the provincial hospital will have 12 stories, featuring OPD, emergency and in-patient services.

24- Deputy Speaker Ranamagar hails Yogmaya’s reform action
Kathmandu, July 6: Deputy Speaker Indira Ranamagar has said role of Yogmaya, the precursor of women movement, is incomparable not only in Nepal’s history but across the globe.
During a programme on ‘Yogmaya Memorial Day’ organized by the National Women Commission in the federal capital on Sunday, Deputy Speaker Ranamagar reminded that Yogmaya’s courage and social movement she launched despite autocratic Rana regime is inspirational to the present generation.
“Speaking and writing freely, and making association could not be imagined in Rana era. But Yogmaya spearheaded the social reform for women’s rights and empowerment,” she said, adding that present generation can learn a lot from her for realizing women’s rights.
Ranamagar further said we are in need of launching public awareness with door-to-door campaign for effective enforcement of laws so that violence, injustice and discrimination against women would cease to exist in Nepali society. The social transformation and women empowerment launched by Yogmaya is still relevant. Equal participation of women in all structures of State is imperative, she underlined.
National Assembly member Jayanti Devi Rai seconded Deputy Speaker that Yogmaya had played a vital role in social and religious reform. She had also worked for ending class and caste discriminations in Nepali society, according to her.
Yogmaya was a reformist woman, launching a movement in an eastern district of Nepal during autocratic Rana time. Long ignored or pushed on the back burner, her movement and its significance are gradually coming to light in Nepali society and polity after major literary works lately, thereby prompting the right activists to invoke Yogmaya as the foundational figure of women’s rights movement.

25- Bhojpur homicide: All four dead bodies brought to District Hospital
Taksar, July 6: The bodies of those four members of a family murdered en masse at Dhodlekhani of Ram Prasad rural municipality-2 in Bhojpur district have been brought to the District Hospital for post-mortem.
The lifeless bodies were brought to the Hospital for autopsy after police prepared a report on the incident site.
Four members of a family were brutally murdered by a member within the family on Saturday midnight.
The preliminary investigation of the police revealed that Rajendra Rai, 30, of Bhojpur municipality-2, killed his 16-year-old wife Manisha Giri, 68-year-old father-in-law Bel Bahadur Giri and 45-year-old mother-in-law Manju Giri and 9-year-old brother-in-law Sapan Giri, according to the District Police Office, Bhojpur.
Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Bhojpur, Deepak Shrestha, shared that Rai himself called the police control room at midnight and confessed the crime.
Accused Rai was found with deep abdominal injury. After receiving initial medical treatment at the District Hospital in Bhojpur, Rai was referred to Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for further treatment.
Police report revealed that Rajendra and Manisha had a love marriage some nine months ago. Manisha had been staying in her natal home for some time following the dispute with spouse.
It was reported that Rajendra had been to his wife’s natal home to bring her back before the tragic incident occurred. Police have been investigating the case.
The deceased Giri couple, Bel Bahadur and Manju, are survived by three sons and a daughter who are currently residing in Kathmandu. Their final rites will be performed after their children arrive in Bhojpur, police said.

26- Minister demands five more days for consensus on Education Bill-2080
Kathmandu, July 6: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Rajhuji Panta, has demanded five more days for forging consensus on School Education Bill-2080.
Parliamentary Committee on Education, Health and Information Technology responded in positive to the Minister’s demand, according to Committee Chairman Amar Bahadur Thapa.
Minister Panta sought additional time in the Committee meeting, reasoning that some issues were yet to be sorted out in view of the concerns shown by Teachers’ Federation. However, the Minister committed to concluding the Bill as soon as possible.
“It is imperative to pay heed to stakeholders’ concern,” he said, adding that few points still warrant clarity. So, some more days are essential, Minister reiterated.
In the meeting, Committee member Shyam Ghimire also shared that they were talking to Teachers’ Federation and finalizing the Bill soon.
Another member Chhabi Lal Bishwokarma stressed the need of ensuring ownership to all sides concerned in the Bill.
Member Bidya Bhattarai viewed promotion of teachers should be made transparent. Sarita Bhusal expressed worry why the consensus still eluded despite holding 50 rounds of meeting on the Bill.
Rekha Sharma urged all to speed up the Bill.
Devendra Paudel reminded the Committee does not entertain party whip so we need to move ahead quickly.
Ishwori Gharti was for the teacher’s promotion as determined by the Committee.
Not only of teachers but also of students’ voices must be paid heed in the Bill, argued Sumana Shrestha.
Gyanu Basnet said Committee should itself resolve thorny issues in the Bill.

27- Law in the offing to ensure timely delivery of fertilizer, seeds: Minister Adhikari
Kathmandu, July 6: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari, shared that efforts were underway to introduce a law aimed at ensuring timely delivery of chemical fertilizer and seeds for the farmers across the country.
At a meeting of the parliamentary Committee on Industry, Commerce and Labour under the House of Representatives today, Minister Adhikari announced that a new law was being formulated to address the recurring short supply of fertilizers. The Minister also emphasized the need to establish a dedicated institution to procure and distribute essential agricultural supply.
According to him, the current process would take more than 250 days to procure fertilizers while the existing directive after amendment will reduce it to 159 days. Also, new provision will expedite the process of transporting fertilizer and seeds from one from one ward to another.
“Once the new provision comes into effect, fertilizer and seeds could be transported to local levels within 10 days in Terai region and within 15 days in hilly areas,” he explained.
On the occasion, Committee President Abdul Khan mentioned that the meeting was summoned following an application from the Salt Trading Corporation regarding fertilizer quota.
During the meeting, parliamentarians Ganesh Parajuli, Sita Mijar, Rekha Yadav and Hemraj Rai among others highlighted recurring problem of fertilizer shortage every year during paddy plantation season and thus called for resolving the issue at the earliest.
Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture Dr Govinda Prasad Sharma admitted that it would not be sufficient to supply fertilizer to the farmers for the entire year based on the annual budget announced every Jestha 15 of the Nepali month.
According to him, a total of 70,000 tonnes of urea was on a stock in the country at present.

28- ‘Land management key challenge to run EV in Kathmandu’
Kathmandu, July 6: Officials have stated that land management for the development of infrastructures to run electric vehicles for Sajha Yatayat was a key challenge in the Kathmandu Valley.
At a meeting with the representatives of different agencies and Sajha Yatayat held on Sunday at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, they stated that land management was a major challenge for Sajha Yatayat for the sustainable management and use of electric vehicles.
On the occasion, CEO of Sajha Yatayat Bhupendra Aryal made a presentation on the operation of EVs to be availed soon after the government facilitation.
During the meeting, parking and holding centre, charging station, repair centre and availability of spares parts were discussed, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s personal secretary Binod Bahadur Kunwar said.
The meeting has assigned the Secretary of Office of the Prime Minister, Raj Kumar Shrestha, and Joint Secretary Namaraj Ghimire for line agency facilitation and confirm the land in the Kathmandu Valley.
In view of massive pressure on public transportation, the government is planning to run more than 100 EVs in the Kathmandu Valley within some months.

29- RSS suggested securing resources for quality service
Khajura (Banke), July 16: Chief Administrative Officer at Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolis, Ramhari Sharma, has suggested RSS securing adequate resources and ensuring effectiveness in its services.
For protection and promotion of local languages and culture, local governments have major role, he said, adding that RSS could secure further resources to work on this regard.
Sharma said it during an event RSS organized on ‘Abadhi News Service at RSS’ here Sunday. RSS has been providing news in Abadhi language for one and half year in collaboration with Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolis.
At the programme, former member secretary of Nepal Academy and noted litterateur Sanat Regmi said media has a tremendous role in promoting and protecting Abadhi language and literature. News in Abadhi should have broader reaches, he suggested.
RSS Chairman Dharmendra Jha informed that RSS was holding discussions with stakeholders to garner feedback on its new dimension- addition of local languages in its news service.
He argued RSS had prioritized dissemination of news in local languages.
Various other participants at the event suggested RSS that it dwelt on investigative stories and public concern.

31- Nepal-Korea Cultural and Tourism Exhibition set for November in South Korea
Kathmandu, July 6: A cultural, tourism and educational exhibition is set to take place in South Korea coming November.
AMS Music and Entertainment Pvt Ltd is going to organize the exhibition with an objective to foster cultural exchange and promote tourism, Nepali cuisine and traditional craft.
In a press meet organized here Sunday, AMS Music and Entertainment Chairperson Satyakala Tamang shared that the event will also serve as a platform to discuss educational and labour relations between Nepal and South Korea.
The event, to be organized in association with the World Peace Union and Service-oriented Interactive Video Application, is expected to further strengthen ties between the two countries, said Tamang.
