Bhotekoshi flood damages 12 hydropower projects

Kathmandu, Aug 26: Twelve hydropower projects have been directly affected by the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River this morning.

According to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Spokesperson Rajan Dhakal, six hydropower plants and one solar plan sustained direct damage from the flood, while power generated from other affected hydropower projects has been disconnected from the national grid.

Spokesperson Dhakal said that the projects directly affected include the 111 MW Rasuwagadhi, 78 MW Salasungi (Sanjen), 14.8 MW Upper Sanjen, 42.5 MW Sanjen, 22 MW Chilime, 20 MW Langtang, 60 MW Upper Trisuli 3A, 14.8 MW Upper Mailung, 5 MW Mailung, 24 MW Trisuli, 14 MW Devighat and a 25 MW solar plant.

The flood has affected a total of 11 hydropower projects and one solar plant, resulting in the disconnection of 431.1 MW of electricity from the national grid, Spokesperson Dhakal added. The flood has also damaged the national transmission line.—

Floods damage at least 19 bridges, roads along Bhotekoshi-Trishuli area

Kathmandu, Aug 26: At least 19 motorable bridges have been damaged by devastating floods in Bhotekoshi-Trishuli river system.

According to Shubharaj Neupane, Deputy Director General and Spokesperson of the Department of Roads, efforts are underway to improve the status damaged roads and bridges with the help of heavy equipment and machinery.

Similarly, at least 40-kilometers of road sections have been damaged by the floods. —
