Bhadra Shukla Chaturdansi of Nepali month, Bhadra, is the important day of the eight-day long festival. A wooden pole was erected with the flag which is called’ Indradhwojottolan’.

Different cultural dances as Bhakkunach, Mahakalinach, Lakhenach, Dasavatarnach and Pulukisinach were performed in the city while the holy wooden pole was raised upright.

Lord Bhairav is worshipped at the bottom of the pole. The Indrajatra festival is taken as the celebration after conquering the enemies. It is believed that worship of Lord Indra gives one strength.

The chariot profession would be organized even in the nearby community on Friday itself, said Chief of Guthi Sansthan in Kathmandu, Shailendra Poudel.

Earlier, the wooden pole was brought by performing tantric acts from a jungle of Nala in nearby Kavre district. It was made holy with various rituals at Bhotahiti, Kathmandu.
