BNP constructs canopy bridges to protect animals

Published Date : October 2, 2019

Nepalgunj, Oct 2 : Canopy ( overhead) bridges have been constructed along the highway area in Banke for the convenience of tree-dwelling animals like monkey and squirrel.

The infrastructures build by the Banke National Park (BNP) aim to prevent such animals from facing accidents in course of movement along the highway.

According to BNP assistant conservation officer and information officer Bishnu Prasad Thapaliya, jute and silk threads and tiny wooden poles were used to set up the bridges at six locations along the highway area covered by the park.

A camera trapping system has been applied to track the movements of such animals via the canopy bridges. Such system will be in place for the next six months.
