Kathmandu mayor urges for no obstruction in dust-free campaign

Published Date : October 7, 2019

Kathmandu, Oct 7 : Kathmandu metropolis mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya has expressed his concern over obstructions created in the blacktopping of Khulamanch-based bus park area for a temporary period.

As he said, the blacktopping had begun for a provisional period to support the campaign for building the dust-free Kathmandu.

It was part of preparations for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s upcoming Nepal visit as the area sees immense dust pollution and it was a matter of sadness that it was halted in the presence of people’s representatives.

Works to blacktop the bus park area were halted in the presence of Nepali Congress leader and House of Representatives member Bhimsen Das Pradhan, Kathmandu metropolis deputy mayor Hari Prabha Khadgi and ward 28 chair Bhairam Khadgi on Sunday.

The mayor refused any plan of constructing permanent structures along the bus park area.

The mayor who is presently hospitalised for dengue infection claimed the blacktopping had begun following the consultation with the deputy mayor.
