Xi says we don’t have any problem, only friendship, ‘agreed on Kerung-KTM railway DPR’

Kathmandu, Oct 12 : Visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping has announced to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of much-awaited Kerung-Kathmandu railway.

Responding at the State Banquet Dinner hosted by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Saturday evening, President Xi said that Nepal will not be landlocked country but land-linked.

He said, “We will upgrade the Araniko highway and open more border points so that the multi dimensional connectivity will be available between Nepal and China.”

He further said, ” We don’t have any problem, only friendship. “

President Xi further said that there will be more comfortable connectivity available between Nepal and China in the days ahead.

“Reconstruction efforts will go ahead, and we will encourage Chinese tourists to visit Nepal. We have more people having faith on Buddism, and they can visit Lumbini,” adding that he said, “In today’s world, we believe in globalism and protection of environment.”

He further said, “We have to complete all works on time. I suggest to make a concrete roadmap and plan to  further improve ties and development works in the days to come.”  

Welcoming the President Xi Jinping, President Bidya Devi Bhandari emphasized on multidimensional connectivity between the two neighbours.

She said, “We have been expecting greater connectivity with China, particularly by road and rail. We hope that the China will consider for constructing trans-himalayan railway (Kerung to Kathmandu). The people of Nepal are very hopeful and eagerly waiting to see constructing railway.”

So, we request China to use it’s modern technology to accomplish this railway, she added.

She further said that we would like to invite Chinese investment here in Nepal, and the government will fully assure protection of such investment.

President Bhandari said that Nepal will firmly stand by One China Policy, and assure China not to use Nepali territory against China.
