Judicial Council recommends appointment of 15 judges in High Court

Kathmandu : The Judicial Council has recommended appointment of 15 judges in the High Court. A meeting of the Judicial Council chaired by Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JBR on Wednesday took a decision to this effect.

Twelve positions of judges are vacant in the high court at present. Likewise, three other judges are also retiring on December 1, 2 and 7. The recommended judges include six from among district-based judges, one from among government lawyers and eight from among legal practitioners.

They are Kiran Kumar Pokharel (Okhaldhunga bench of High Court, Biratnagar), Murari Babu Shrestha (Jumla bench of High Court, Surkhet), Sudarshan Raj Pandey (Baglung bench of High Court, Pokhara), Dipendra Adhikari (Rajbiraj bench of High Court, Janakpur), Ramesh Raj Pokharel (Birgunj bench of High Court Janakpur), Narishwor Bhandari (High Court, Biratnagar), Gita Prasad Timsina (Rajbiraj bench of High Court, Janakpur), Milan Kumar Rai (Bhojpur) (High Court, Dipayal).

Likewise, Rajuram Silwal (Chitwan) (Okhaldhunga bench of High Court, Biratnagar), Merina Shrestha (Doti)  (High Court, Tulasipur), Mina Gautam Sedai (Morang) (High Court, Patan), Som Kanta Mainali (Chitwan) (Dhankuta bench of High Court, Biratnagar), Desh Bahadur Sarki (Bhojpur) (Butwal bench of High Court, Tulasipur), Rekha Thapa Pandey (Sunsari) (High Court, Patan) and Kiran Kumari Gupta (Saptari) (High Court, Saptari).
