COVID-19: 1,069 new cases, 768 recoveries

Kathmandu: A total of 1,069 new cases of Corona Virus were confirmed in the past 24 hours, including 344 women and 725 men.

The result was from 12,088 PCR tests carried in different laboratories across the country, said Ministry of Health and Population Spokesperson Dr Jageswar Gautam.

This takes the total tally of COVID-19 cases in the country to 40,529.

Likewise, 768 people returned home from isolation centres after recovering from the deadly virus. The total no of recoveries is 22,178 so far, with 55 per cent recovery rate.

Twelve out of 77 districts have more than 500 active cases while five districts are free of the infection. According to Dr Gautam, as of today 127 are undergoing treatment in ICU while 17 are under ventilator support.

A total of 10,832 people are in institutional isolation while 7,280 are in home-based isolation.

Another, 7,390 people are in quarantine. In Kathmandu valley, 481 new cases of Corona Virus was reported including 393 in Kathmandu district, 58 in Lalitpur and 30 in Bhaktapur district.

Meanwhile, four people including a four-year-old girl child died of COVID-19 today. This takes the death toll to 239 to date.
