1,081 new cases; seven districts report 500 plus positive

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population recorded a total of 1,081 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. Among these, 743 are male and 338 female.

Spokesperson at the ministry, Dr Jageshwor Gautam shared this information on Wednesday.

The latest update has reached the total infection to 49,219; while the active cases of infection are 15,025. Similarly, 918 persons returned home after recovering their health.

With this, those restoring their normal health after infection have reached 33,882. It is the 68.8 percent recovery of the total infection in Nepal.

In the last 24 hours, 11,167 persons were tested for the virus. The sample test has been conducted among 799,341 persons so far.

Moreover, 5,480 are staying in quarantines; 7,988 persons in institutional isolation and 7,037 in home isolation. The Kathmandu Valley witnessed 464 cases, among which, Kathmandu has 394, Lalitpur 34 and Bhaktapur 36.

Six die of COVID-19

Meanwhile, six persons infected with coronavirus lost lives in the last 24 hours. The total death toll due to the pandemic has reached 312 in the country.

Among the lastest fatalities, three are men and three women. Spokesperson Dr Gautam has made aware everyone about the psychological wellbeing in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

Anyone in dire need of psychological counseling needs to be provided positive environment by the family and relatives, and counseling by the psychiatrists.
