Total COVID-19 infection crosses 100 thousand, death toll reaches 600

Kathmandu: The number of coronavirus infected persons has crossed 100 thousand in the country on Friday.

The PCR tests conducted in the last 24 hours showed 2,059 new cases of coronavirus infection reaching the total infection 1,00,676.

Currently, there are 27,053 active cases of coronavirus in Nepal, according to Spokesperson at Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Jageshwor Gautam.

He informed that the institutional isolations have 11,176 people while 15,877 persons are staying in home isolation.

In the last 24 hours, 13,279 persons underwent PCR tests.

With this, total number of people undergoing the PCR tests has reached over 1.1 million.

A total of 4,307 persons have been staying in quarantines across the country, while the number of those recovering their normal health in the last 24 hours stood 1,680.

With this, total number of people recovering from the coronavirus has reached 73,023. Kathmandu Valley records 1,409 new cases The latest update has recorded 1,409 new cases of coronavirus.

Spokesperson Dr Gautam further said Kathmandu district got 1,116, Bhaktapur 130 and Lalitpur 163 new cases. Now, the total infection in the Kathmandu Valley reached 33,771.

Death toll reaches 600

With 10 latest fatalities, the total death toll caused by the coronavirus has reached 600.

Among those died in the last 24 hours, nine are men and one woman. Those losing lives to deadly virus belong to the age group of 29 to 84 years.

They are from Jhapa, Sunsari, Kathmandu, Rupandehi and Lalitpur.
