KMC provides PCR machine to Kanti Children’s Hospital

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has provided a PCR machine to test COVID-19 infection to Kanti Children’s Hospital.

The KMC chief administrative officer Rajeshwor Gyawali handed the machine to the hospital’s director Dr Krishna Poudel in the presence of KMC mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya amid a function here.

On the occasion, mayor Shakya said the KMC has been providing health materials to prevent and control COVID-19 donated by various cities with which the KMC has sister’s relations, to government hospitals.

Earlier, the KMC has provided monetary assistances to the hospital to install an oxygen plant. The PCR machine would come into operation in a week, said the hospital’s director Poudel.

Without a PCR machine, the hospital had to send collected swabs to elsewhere for a test for the infection.

The hospital has collected swabs of 20 to 30 suspected people on a daily basis, it has been said.
