Kathmandu: Minister of Finance Bishnu Prasad Poudel has said that the economy cannot be made dynamic without increasing the confidence and morale of the private sector.

In a meeting with officials of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Finance Minister Poudel said that the economy could not be made dynamic without the positive response from the private sector.

He said that overcoming the challenge created by Covid-19, reviving the economy, increasing employment opportunities and increasing production would not have been possible without the private sector.

Therefore, the government has a role to play in creating favorable conditions to run the business and contribute to the national economy from its own place even in the current adverse conditions, he said.

He also said that he was focusing on the non-implementation of the different programs and projects announced by the government. He said that the refinancing and stimulus packages announced by the government are being implemented.

Chairman of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Rajesh Kaji Shrestha demanded reduction of revenue rates. He said that the revenue rates should be reduced as soon as possible which will increase the turnover and the size of revenue would automatically increase after the increase in turnover.

Entrepreneurs have said that some goods are being imported illegally. Therefore, the businessmen argue that it is necessary to improve the tax rates including customs rate, revenue and value added tax.

The NCC has submitted a 22-points memorandum.
