KATHMANDU, Dec 28: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that Nepal and China have been able to take the relations to new heights in various fields by strengthening the bilateral relations.

According to advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Dr. Rajan Bhattarai, Prime Minister Oli expressed confidence that China would continue its support and cooperation as a close neighbor and friend of Nepal.

PM Oli was receiving visiting Chinese delegation led by Guo Yezhou from Communist Party of China (CPC). Guo Yezhou is the Vice Minister of International Department of CPC.

On the occasion, Deputy Minister Yezhou conveyed a message of good wishes for the New Year 2021 sent by Chinese President Xi Jinping to Prime Minister Oli and expressed happiness over the deepening of bilateral relations between China and Nepal and the fraternal ties between the two communist parties. The delegation also had a courtesy meeting with President Bidya Devi Bhandari last night.

Yezhou has arrived Kathmandu at a time when ruling Nepal Communist Party(NCP) have been facing a great problem due to intra-party clash. Due to differences among senior leaders of NCP, the party seems virtually divided.

The Oli-led NCP and Prachanda-Madhav faction of NCP have been organizing separate meetings, formed separate Central Committees, Standing Committees. Likewise, Prachanda-Madhav faction is on street, protesting against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

In such a situation, an immediate visit from CPC would be meaningful one. As expected, the Chinese delegation have been exerting pressure on both faction of NCP to be united again. According to sources, Vice Minister Yezhou suggested leaders to show restraint and be calm.

Political analysts say that the impact of the Chinese suggestion will be felt within a very short time. However, the intra-party struggle and conflict have already crossed it’s border, and reached on provinces to local levels.

Yezhou discussed with NCP leaders as Prachanda, Madhav Kumar Nepal, and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, President Bidya Devi Bhandari, former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, among others. These series of meetings were mostly focused on grave situation arised inside NCP.
