Published Date : December 29, 2020

KATHMANDU, Dec 29: The ruling Nepal Communist Party (PCN) Vice Chairman Bamdev Gautam has urged the President to withdraw the decision to dissolve the parliament as soon as possible.

Gautam, who remained neutral in the party split, has openly opposed the decision of the President and the Prime Minister to dissolve the parliament.

Now, Gautam suggests that the president should reverse her decision to dissolve parliament as soon as possible. “There is no alternative to re-establishing the House of Representatives,” Gautam said.

No chance of splitting NCP for 2 years

According to the Political Parties Act, the party should not be divided for five years after its unification, said Vice-Chairman Gautam. According to the provisions of the Act, it is not legally possible to split the NCP for another two years, said Gautam.

“There is a legal provision that a new party formed by two or three parties will not be allowed to split for five years,” Gautam said.

According to Gautam, the provision that the party cannot be divided for five years after its unification is written in sub-sections 3 and 10 of section 33 of the Act on Political Parties.
