Lamichhane takes two wickets leading his team, Hobart Hurricanes to win

KATHMANDU: Nepali right-arm leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane played in style in the ongoing Big Bash League in Australia as his team Hobart Hurricanes secured a win with two wickets to his name. Hobart Hurricanes defeated Melbourne Stars by 21 runs on Saturday.

Lamichhane claimed two wickets for 38 in four overs. He dismissed Hilton Cartwright Kartrite and Ben Dank.

Lamichhane played his first match after completing mandatory 14 days quarantine as he was infected with Covid-19.

Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Hobart Hurricanes made 164 runs in allotted 20 overs at the loss of five wickets. For the team, Dawid Malan hit highest 75 runs and Ben McDermott 31.

In the chase of 146 runs target, Melbourne Stars hit 143 runs losing nine wickets. For Melbourne Stars, its captain Glenn Maxwell made highest 70 runs.

Lamichhane lost his initial six matches under the League after contracting with Covid-19. Hobart Hurricanes has reached second position with 18 points.

Of seven matches it played, the team won five and lost two.

It is scheduled to play its next match on coming Monday. The League has been participated by eight teams.
