270 new cases of coronavirus infection reported

KATHMANDU: The country recorded a total of 270 new cases of the coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population said.

The Ministry said that 90 females and 180 males were found infected from the virus out of 3,084 PCR tests.

The Kathmandu valley reported 172 news cases of the virus including 59 females and 113 males. So far, the coronavirus tally in the country reached 266,816.

Likewise, a total of 390 people recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours across the country. With this, the number of people getting recovered from the virus infection reached 260,567.

Ministry stated that the recovery rate from the virus in Nepal is 97.7 per cent. Currently, the country has 4,301 reported active cases of the virus and, of them, 231 people are in quarantine facilities while others are in isolation beds.

According to the Ministry, five more people succumbed to the virus infection the past 24 hours taking the total COVID-19 related deaths to 1,948.
