KATHMANDU: The ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) KP Sharma Oli faction is demonstrating its strength today.

Earlier, after the Prachanda-Madhav group demonstrated in Kathmandu, the Oli faction is holding a public meeting in front of Narayanhiti Durbar.

The Oli group is bringing cadres from different districts to Kathmandu to demonstrate their strength. Leaders of the Oli group have claimed that 300,000 cadres will be fielded in today’s assembly.

Ministers and leaders, including caretaker Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, are scheduled to address the meeting.

The youth organization had organized a march with slogan “I love KP Oli” in Kathmandu on Thursday evening to publicize the program.

The cadres gathered in Kathmandu will come out with demonstrations from 13 different locations.

The NCP had virtually divided into two after President Bidya Devi Bhandari dissolved the House of Representatives on the recommendation of the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Since then, both groups have intensified street demonstrations and rallies.

Prachanda-Madhav faction has termed the dissolution of the House as unconstitutional, undemocratic and autocratic move of the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. However, PM KP Sharma Oli has criticised Prachanda-Madhav faction for continued obstruction in the works of government, and compelled him to dissolve the House.

The Prachanda-Madhav group had staged a general strike on Thursday after the President’s Office appointed to the constitutional bodies without a parliamentary hearing.
