KATHMANDU: The Communist Party of Nepal (UML) Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has proposed a meeting with UCPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.
Oli, who was under pressure after the Madhav Kumar Nepal group called a separate national meeting, had called Prachanda on Sunday evening. According to sources close to Prachanda, Oli requested for a meeting with Prachanda.
However, Prachanda did not show much interest in the meeting. A member of the Maoist standing committee says, “The party meeting is going on. We suggested Chairman Prachanda to meet Oli after the party meeting concludes.”
On Monday, PM Oli also invited senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and discussed about the latest scenario arised in the party. However, no agreements were possible and both sides made sharp comments upon their recent activities.
According to Madhav Kumar Nepal, the meeting started with positive notes and the ending was a bitter one. “We suggested Chair Oli to stop all the party activities, including tea party and cancel all recent decisions to dismantle party rank and file, but he stressed for moving forward.”
