Park with Yalambar’s 110-foot tall bust constructed in Buipa

Khotang, June 9: The Yalambar Park with a life-size bust of the Lichchhivi era’s first King, Yalambar, has been constructed in Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-14.

The park along with the 110-foot tall bust of Yalambar has been constructed in 30 ropani of public land at Panchadobato, Buipa.

For the construction of the park in Buipa, Khotang – known as the central region of Kirat, the Koshi Province government has contributed 70 percent and Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi municipality 30 percent of the total investment of Rs 140 million.

Ward Chair Diensh Rai informed that the spacious Yalambar Park would offer facilities such as free wifi, coffee and fast food to the tourists entering here.

“The Park would have all basic facilities. Yalambar’s big statue has been erected at the centre of the park”, he shared, adding, “The park built with the adoption of modern technology has become a centre of attraction”.

This is so far the tallest and biggest statue ever built in the globe as of now, it is claimed.

Deputy Mayor of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi, Bishan Rai said that the park with life-size bust of the historical personality, Yalambar, has been built to help promote tourism by preserving the history of the Kirat community. —  

Birgunj revenue collection relies on petro products and vehicle import

Birgunj (Parsa), June 9: The Birgunj Customs Office has collected the largest volume of revenue amounting Rs 65.5 billion from the import of petro products during last 10 months in the current fiscal year.

As shared, the office has spent Rs 155 billion and 940 million for the import of five kinds of petro products in the reporting period.

On the total revenue received from the import, the petro products have the 46.26 percent contributions.

Chief Customs Administrator at Birgunj Office, Deepak Lamichhane said the main source of customs revenue here is the import of petroleum products and vehicles.

Likewise, the import of transport vehicles and their parts has drawn the second largest volume of revenue amounting to Rs 15.24 billion. Witht his, the import of vehicles and parts has a total share of 10.93 percent on the revenue received from the customs duty.

The office has gathered revenue of Rs 5.25 billion from the iron and iron-made products. Likewise, it has collected revenue of Rs 4.55 billion from the import of machinery and parts.

Lamichhane further informed that revenue amounting to Rs 3.37 billion was collected from the import of electric machinery, accessories and their parts.

The office has collected Rs 2.87 billion revenue from the import of all types of clothes in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year.

Other revenue sources include Rs 2.23 billion from the import of tobacco and tobacco products and Rs 2.22 billion from cosmetics items. —   

Nepal lost to Scotland by two runs

Kathmandu, June 9: Nepal lost to host Scotland in the triangular one-day series under the ICC Cricket World Cup League-2.

In the match held at Dundee-based Fort Hill Cricket Stadium on Sunday, the host defeated Nepal by two runs.

Chasing a mammoth target of 324 runs, Nepal was confined to 321 runs in the 50 limited overs.

For Nepal, Bhim Sarki played an enduring inning making highest contribution of 73 off 85 that included eight boundaries.

Bhim and Arif Sheikh had a partnership of 94 runs. Sheikh was out for 39 off 55, striking five fours. Similarly, Vice captain Dipendra Singh Airee contributed 56 off 51.

He had a significant partnership of 105 runs for the seventh wicket with Sompal Kami. Sompal was out for 67 off 44, making three boundaries and four sixes.

Scotland’s Captain Richie Berrington made the century for the team with 102 runs. In the match, Nepal’s Karan KC and Dipendra Singh Airee took equal two wickets each while Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi took one. —  

Muglin-Pokhara road expansion: 53 percent works complete in western section

Damauli (Tanahun), June 9: Around 53 percent construction works have been completed in the western section of the Muglin-Pokhara road expansion project.

Over half of the designated works have been completed from Jamun (Tanahun) to the Seti Bridge (Pokhara, Kaski), according to the Muglin Pokhara road project (western section).

Project chief Krishna Bahadur Kunwar informed that blacktopping has been done on both sides of 24-km stretch while 12.8-km section has been blacktopped one way.

Remaining three-kilometer is yet to be blacktopped one way in the western section and it will be completed by mid-June, he shared.

Construction of ten out of 12 bridges have been so far completed in the western section, he said adding 92 among 100 culverts have been constructed.

A total of 424 electric poles are to be removed in the section which has also delayed the overall construction works, he shared. —   

Bhimdutta bans on extraction of river-based materials

Kanchanpur, June 9: Bhimdutta Municipality has imposed ban on the collection and extraction of river-based materials from the rivers and rivulets in its boundary.

The collection and extraction of the river-based products is to be prohibited after mid-June.

According to Mahesh Bahadur Bam, chief administrative officer of the municipality, there is a provision that prohibits the extraction of river-based materials from the first day of the month of Ashad (mid-June) to the end of the month of Bhadra (mid-September) each year, as per the Sand, Gravel, Stone, Extraction, Sale and Management Guidelines 2077 (first amendment 2079).

“Based on that legal provision, the work of collecting and extracting river materials will be banned ” he said, warning strict action If extraction and collection work is found taking place.

There is ongoing extraction and collection of river materials from the Mahakali River and rivulets of the Chure region in the municipality. —
