Partial to general change likely across the country today

Kathmandu, June 11: There is an influence of westerly and local winds in the western and central part of the country, while most areas of the Koshi Province are under an influence of monsoon winds.

This afternoon there will generally be partial to mainly cloudy weather across the country, with chance of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in some places, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology informed.

In one or two locations in the high hilly and mountain regions of the country, there is also a possibility of light rainfall and snowfall.

Similarly, tonight, there will generally be partial to mostly cloudy weather across the country, with the possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in some places.

Also, there is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in one or two locations in the high hilly and mountain regions.

HoR meeting scheduled for today

Kathmandu, June 11: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) under the Federal Parliament has been scheduled for 1.00 pm this afternoon.

The opposition parties have been regularly obstructing the House flaring up the issue related to ‘visit visa’ scam.

The scheduled meetings of the Lower House have been postponed without entering the regular agenda since last May 27

Despite several rounds of discussion among the political parties for consensus, nothing concrete has been yielded to avert the prolonged parliamentary deadlock.

In today’s meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel is set to present a proposal seeking discussion on ‘the annual estimates of revenue and expenditure for the fiscal year 2082/83’ along with a statement.

Similarly, President of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee Ramhari Khatiwada will present the report of the ‘Federal Civil Service Bill, 2082.’

Due to continuous obstructions from the opposition parties, rhe parliament has not been able to enter the regular agenda in recent days.

Vice President Yadav attends reception

Kathmandu, June 11: Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav attended the reception hosted on the National Day of Russia on Tuesday evening.

In the reception organized by Ambassador of Russian Federation to Nepal, Aleksei A. Novikov, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Raghuji Pant, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, parliamentarians, Chief of Army Staff Ashokraj Sigdel, heads and officials of diplomatic missions in Kathmandu, former ministers, high-ranking officials of the Nepal government and media professionals were present.

On the occasion, a Russian cultural team had performed various cultural programmes. —  

Grants for honey and black gram production elate farmers in Tanahun

Damauli (Tanahun), June 11: Local farmers have no bound of happiness after receiving grants from Anbukhaireni Rural Municipality for honey and black gram production.

The grants were provided to encourage farmers under the production-based grant programme.

According to Santosh KC, chief of the agriculture department of the municipality, grants were provided at the rate of Rs. 25 per kilogram to attract farmers to honey and black gram farming.

Farmers of Anbukhaireni -4 and 5 have received a total grant of Rs. 393,450 for producing honey and black gram in the current fiscal year.

The municipality has also arranged transportation of the production to the market. KC said, “There is potential for pulse and honey production in the municipality. A grant policy has been implemented to sustain farmers in this sector”.

In the current fiscal year, 123 farmers associated with seven farmers’ groups have received grants for the same.

Farmers circled in the Thamchuli beekeeping farmers’ group in Anbukhaireni-4 received a grant amounting to Rs. 17,700 for producing 450 kilograms of black gram and 258 kilograms of honey.

Similarly, farmers associated with the Khasrang village farmers’ group in Anbukhaireni-4 have produced 258 kilograms of honey.

Farmers affiliated with the Khola village farmers’ group in Anbukhaireni -5 have received a grant of Rs 64,750 for producing 2,590 kilograms of black gram. Likewise, farmers associated with the Indradevi farmers’ group have accessed a grant of Rs 26,250 for producing 1,050 kilograms of black gram.

As informed, farmers from the Bhukundi Kheusing farmer group received a grant of Rs 150,175 for producing 6,007 kilograms of black gram.

Farmers enrolled in the Thanimai farmers’ group of Anbukhaireni municipality-4 obtained a grant of Rs 43,575 for producing 1,732 kilograms of black gram and 11 kilograms of honey.

Chairperson of the Khola village farmers’ group, Shukmaya Praja, noted that production-based grants have attracted farmers to farming.

She told RSS that, “After the municipality provided support for black gram and honey, the farmers can sustain themselves in this field”. Likewise, chair of the Bhukundi Kheusing farmers’ group, Bimala Gurung, expressed confidence that the grant policy would attract farmers to agriculture.

14,500 e-vehicles imported in 10 years

Rasuwa, June 11: The import of e-vehicles – manufactured in China – via Rasuwagadhi transit point has reached 14,500 in number during last 10 years.

With the rise in its import, the electrical vehicles are being placed in Timure, Ghattakhola and Rasuwagadhi areas.

A large number of vehicles has been shelved when the importers fail to complete the customs process.

Information Officer at the Rasuwa Customs Office, Rabindra Pyakurel shared that the customs clearance of 2,570 vehicles has been completed so far. The vehicles with customs clearance are heading to Kathmandu.

Beside e-vehicles, other items such as shoes, sandals, ready-made garments and electrical goods are being imported from China.

Three found dead in Jhapa

Baniyani (Jhapa), June 11: Three people were found dead in three different areas of the district.

According to the Spokesperson of the Jhapa Police, Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, the lifeless bodies were found in Arjundhara-4, Madanpur Jaladhar Road, Birtamod-2, Fulbari Tole and Arjundhara-11, Nayabasti.

Identity of the deceased found in Arjundhara-4 has yet to be established. It is informed that other deceased were identified as Ram Tudu, 36, of Birtamod-2, Fulbari Tole and Mitralal Kami, 60, of Arjundhara-11, Nayabasti.

All three bodies were sent to the Provincial Hospital Bhadrapur for post-mortem.
