Letter of credence presented to President Trump

Washington DC (America), June 12: Nepal’s Ambassador to the United States (US), Lokdarshan Regmi has presented a letter of credence before US President Donald Trump.

At a credential ceremony organized at the President’s Office, White House, on Wednesday, Ambassador Regmi presented the letter, the Nepali Mission informed.

On the occasion, Ambassador Regmi wished for the good health, happiness and successful tenure of President Trump on behalf of the President, Prime Minister and the Nepali people.

Ambassador Regmi expressed his confidence that the bilateral and reciprocal relations between Nepal and the US would persistently grow and improve.

He extended gratefulness for the US assistance to the development priorities of Nepal, including social and economic ones.

Welcoming to Ambassador Regmi, President Trump congratulated him on assuming the new responsibility.

Presdient Trump expressed his commitment to further consolidate the friendly and reciprocal relations between the two countries through collaboration in keeping with collective interests.

Heavy rainfall likely in some places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces

Kathmandu, June 12: There is an influence of westerly and local winds in the western and central regions of the country, while monsoon wind is affecting the Koshi province, the Meteorological Forecasting Division said.

There will be partial to generally cloudy weather across the country this afternoon.

There is a chance of light to moderate rainfall along with thunder and lightning in some hilly areas, including Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.

According to the Division, heavy rainfall is likely to take place in one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.

Also, there is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous regions.

Similarly, tonight, the hilly areas of the country, including Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces will have partially to generally cloudy weather, while the remaining areas will mostly be clear.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some places of the hilly areas of the country, including Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.

Heavy rainfall is predicted to occur in one or two places of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. There is also a possibility of light to moderate rain in some places of the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, the Division informed.

Blacktopping Chisapani-Deurali-Banidanda road gains pace

Parbat, June 12: The Chisapani-Deurali-Banidanda road is being blacktopped in a pace.

Blacktopping has started on the road stretch 15 years after the opening of track.

According to Local Infrastructure Development Office, the blacktopping is being done at the cost of Rs 10 million appropriated by the federal government.

Along with the blacktopping of the road, construction of a retaining wall, rainwater drainage channels, gabion walls filling, and culverts placement were completed last year.

It has eased the public to reach the Waling-Huwas road through the route.

Engineer at the Local Infrastructure Development Office, Ravi Panthi informed that the entire blacktopping work will be completed within this fiscal year.

Foundation stone laid for Maoist Centre’s office at Parisdanda in Mustang

Mustang, June 12: CPN (Maoist Centre) chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has laid foundation stone of the party office building to be constructed at Parisadanda in Gharpajhong Rural Municipality-4, Bhapso-4.

Dahal laid the foundation stone of the party office building according to Buddhist tradition.

According to Dhierendra BK, in-charge of the district coordination committee of the CPN (Maoist Center), Dachyung Gurung –a resident of Baragung Muktikshetra-2, Chhangur donated the land for the construction of a six-room building.

On the occasion, chair Dahal expressed his belief that the construction of the party office building would be easier to expand party functions and organizational expansion as well as for the development of Mustang.

He also instructed the party’s local leaders and activists to work with the people placing them at the center.

East-West Highway obstructed

Triveni (Nawalparasi), June 12: The East-West Highway has been obstructed after a flood took away ‘diversion’ at Dumkibas in Nawalparasi (Bardghat Susta East) district.

The Highway came to a halt when the diversion was washed away by the flood that occurred this morning, Deputy Superintendent of Police at District Police, Madhu Nepal told RSS.

He said that there is nothing to do immediately for resuming transportation as the flood is continuing.

With the diversion being washed away, the alternate route of Hongsi Gate towards Sardi has been brought into operation for light and passenger-ferrying vehicles.

Meanwhile, according to Shiva Khanal, the information officer of the Butwal-Narayanghat road expansion project, the new bridge has been completed.

The plan is to operate the bridge from the last week of June.
