General convention platform for leadership and policy selection: President Deuba

Patan (Lalitpur), Sept 4:  Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, has said that the general convention is not only a process of leadership selection but also a historic opportunity to determine policy, direction, and objectives.

Addressing the fourth central general convention of the Nepali Congress’ sister organization, Nepal Farmers’ Association in Kathmandu on Thursday, leader Deuba mentioned that this convention, taking place after 14 years, will inspire and energize Nepali farmers.

Wishing for success of the convention in making the organization more effective, accountable, and farmer-friendly, he said that the path of socialism adopted by the Nepali Congress was for the upliftment, progress, and liberation of farmers, workers, and the general public.

Nepali Congress Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka urged the upcoming leadership to provide policy feedback to the party’s central committee for solving farmers’ issues. He expressed confidence that the upcoming leadership of the Farmers’ Association would effectively work towards addressing the problems of farmers, stating that we cannot achieve any progress by spreading despair.

Congress Vice President Dhanraj Gurung emphasized that all three levels of government must work towards solving the problems of farmers and the agricultural sector.

Deputy-General Secretary Bhishma Raj Angdembe said that the state must protect cultivable land, increase production and productivity.
