Lalitpur, Sept 6: The second day of the CPN (UML)’s statute general convention today began an hour late following a road accident involving a delegate to the convention. A vehicle carrying the delegate hit a girl at Harisiddhi in Lalitpur, leading to road obstruction.
Meanwhile, informing that the girl has been sent to the hospital for treatment with the party bearing all the medical expenses, UML Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has wished the girl a speedy recovery. He expressed concern over the act of some individuals trying to disrupt the general convention taking over the accident.
“The girl who was hit by the vehicle has been taken to the hospital. It was not intentional. The party will bear all her medical expenses. I express sorrow over the incident. Sometimes such unpleasant incidents happen,” said Chair Oli. “We are all saddened by the incident and wish the girl a speedy recovery.”
In the meantime, at the convention, being held at Sunrise Convention Hall in Godavari, Lalitpur, three reports are being presented today. The reports of the Election Commission, Accounts Commission and Disciplinary Commission are being presented.
On Friday, Chair KP Sharma Oli’s presented a political report, Vice Chair Bishnu Poudel tabled the statute amendment proposal, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel presented the organizational report while Advisory Council Chair Amrit Bohora presented his report.
UML Statute Convention continues with panel discussions
Day two of the CPN (UML) Second Statute Convention, underway at the Godavari Sunrise Convention Centre, continued with panel discussions on various reports presented earlier during the convention.
According to Rajendra Gautam, Chief of the UML Publicity Department, ten panels have been formed based on provincial, valley, and central party structures to hold the discussions. The Koshi Province panel has already concluded its discussions and begun drafting its report.
Leaders from the respective panels are expected to present their reports tomorrow. Party Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will address the feedback from the panel discussions. If any issues remain unresolved, they will be settled through voting before the party statute is prepared in an integrated manner.
The convention is scheduled to conclude tomorrow, Sunday.
Day 2 of UML Statute Convention sees presentations of various documents
CPN (UML) Second Statute Convention is underway at the Godavari Sunrise Convention Centre in Lalitpur since Friday.
In the second day today, Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli urged delegates attending the party’s ongoing Second Statute Convention to present, if any differing views or concerns regarding the Statute Amendment Proposal, during the group discussion.
Oli said that doing so would help for an effective time management. He made the statement in response to Standing Committee member Karna Bahadur Thapa, who signaled a desire to speak about the proposal just as group divisions for discussions were about to begin on Friday, the opening day of the convention.
Subsequently, Thapa, after obtaining permission from Oli, distributed pamphlets outlining his opinions on the proposed amendments.
The key presentations on day one include the Political Report by party Chair Oli, Statute Amendment Proposal by Vice President Bishnu Prasad Paudel and the Organizational Proposal by General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel.
On the second day of the convention, the reports were presented by party Central Election Commission Chair Dr Bijaya Subba, Account Commission Chair Dr. Pushpa Kandel, and Discipline Commission Chair Keshab Badal.
Meanwhile, a seven-member committee has been formed under the convenorship of party Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai to write the contemporary political proposal. In the closed session of the Convention today, party Chair made this announcement.
The Convention will conclude on Sunday.
