Lalitpur, Sept 17: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Kulman Ghising, and Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal inspected the devastated ministers’ quarters in Bhanisepati, Lalitpur on Wednesday.
The ministers’ quarters were set on fire during the Gen Z protests that took place on September 8 and 9.
After the inspection, Minister Ghising expressed his commitment to emphatically rebuild the structures without any delay.
“There was a large scale of destruction in the ministers’ quarters. We are collecting details of losses,” he shared.
Total 27 modern and well-equipped buildings constructed in 16 ropanis and 10 ana of land for federal ministers, Chairperson, Vice Chairperson of National Assembly, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives were completely damaged in the incident of arson.
Similarly, contact offices constructed in 27 ropanis and 12 ana land for Province Chiefs and, Chief Ministers of all seven provinces were also torched. Now, the Nepali Army has tightened the security in and around the area.
Meanwhile, both the ministers reached Maharajgunj-based Nepal Police Hospital and enquired about the health condition of the people who were injured during the protests.
Total 16 police personnel and a general people are undergoing treatment in the hospital. A total of 74 people have so far lost their lives during the Gen-Z protests. —
