Kathmandu, Oct 21: National Assembly (NA) Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal has expressed Nepal’s firm support to humanitarian norms and international solidarity.
Addressing the 151st General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva on Monday on the theme of Upholding Humanitarian Norms and Supporting Humanitarian Action in Times of Crisis, Chairperson Dahal reiterated Nepal’s contribution to the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and humanitarian norms.
According to the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations in Geneva, Dahal emphasized the role of the parliaments as guardian to protect and promote humanitarian values during crises.
Dahal shared the developments on recent Generation Z movement which had a call for good governance and anti-corruption at the core.
He also share the government’s commitment to holding elections for the House of Representatives on 5 March 2026 and urged the international community for their support to the elections and to the reconstruction of the infrastructure damaged during the protests.
The UN Mission in Geneva stated that Chairperson Dahal held a bilateral meeting with the Head of Delegation of Pakistan.
Chairperson Dahal is leading the Nepali delegation to the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). —
