Kathmandu, Oct 31: The Former Finance Minister’s Forum has urged the general public and business community to carry out their economic and other routine activities with confidence.
A meeting of the Forum held on Friday made such appeal in the context of looming fear psychology after the arson, vandalism and looting by some anarchic groups on September 9 against the spirit of the Gen-Z protests, Forum’s Member Secretary Bimal Kediya said. Finance Minister Rameshwore Khanal was also present at the meeting.
The Forum has also urged the government to propose different measures including security, relief and subsidy to uplift the confidence of general public and business community and not to let the economic activities shrink.
The meeting has urged the government to extend the tax submission and loan repayment date by 15 days more. Similarly, the Forum has asked the government to book the criminals involved in the vandalism, looting and arson of public, business and private property in the protests of September 9.
Finance Minister Khanal, former finance ministers Prakash Chandra Lohani, Surendra Pandey, Barshaman Pun, Prakash Sharan Mahat, Governor Bishow Paudel and Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyay were present at the meeting. —
