Jhapa Women’s Gold Cup commences today

Jhapa, Nov 3: The Jhapa Women’s Gold Cup International Invitational Football Tournament is set to commence today.

The tournament had been delayed by two days due to the effects of Cyclone Montha, which originated in the Bay of Bengal and brought heavy rains across the country.

The tournament, to be held at Dudhe Stadium in Shivasatakshi, Jhapa, is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 pm today. Nepal Police and Church Boys United will face each other in the opening match.

Eight teams are participating: Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, Church Boys United, Tribhuvan Army Club, Sankata, Jhapa XI, RS Pokhara, and Singling Sporting Club from Sikkim, India.

The team that wins the tournament will receive NPR 1,010,000 while the first runner-up will receive NPR 500,000. According to Organising Committee Chair Santosh Thopra, the best player of the tournament will be awarded NPR 150,000. The best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, striker, emerging player, coach, and top scorer will each receive NPR 25,000.
