NTV World launched to mark first anniversary of PSB Nepal

Kathmandu, Nov 9: The Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) Nepal has completed one year of its establishment.

The PSB Nepal formed by integrating Nepal Television and Radio Nepal is celebrating its first anniversary today. Marking the anniversary, PSB Nepal is going to formally launch a dedicated English-language channel ‘NTV World’ today.

The new channel will be launched by President Ramchandra Paudel amidst a programme to be held later today, according to Executive Chair of PSB Dr Mahendra Bista. Public Service Broadcasting Act, 2081 (2024) led to the establishment of the PSB Nepal after a bill was passed by the Federal Parliament on the basis of suggestions and recommendations from various task forces and a commission consisting of media experts.

With the implementation of the Act, Radio Nepal, formed under the Radio Broadcasting Service Development (Committee) Formation Order, 2041, and Nepal Television, established under the Communications Corporation Act, 2028, were transformed into a public service broadcasting agency.

Following the transformation of Radio Nepal and Nepal Television into public service broadcasting (PSB) agency it has been carrying out public service broadcasting services with quality, reliable and effective content. The new channel is expected to broadcast content that will help understand Nepal better among the international community. –––
