Surkhet, Nov 19: The Karnali Province government has said it would implement the development projects only with a budget of over Rs 2 million. Spokesperson at Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Urban Development in the province, Ramesh Subedi, informed that the government amended the procedure on selection of project for the second time to drop the project with the cost less than Rs 2 million to the lower level.
Similarly, the government has set the criteria that projects relating to drinking water and irrigation would not undertake the works that cost less than Rs 5 million. The project costing less than this would be carried out by the local levels, he added, referring to the new provision.
In case of the project proposal with cost-sharing and public participation, the proposers need to bear 10 percent. The project of over Rs 5 million requires enlistment in Project Bank.
