Baitadi, Jan 28: Baitadi district has witnessed a snowfall since early this morning. The upper belt in the district like Sigas, Khodpe, Anarkholi and Dholyamod experienced the heavy snowfall.
A local Raj Bahadur Ter said the farmers were elated with the snowfall, hoping that it would be beneficial to the winter crops including wheat. However, the normal life has been badly disturbed with the declined temperature with snowfall.
A news report sent from Dhorpatan of Baglung also informed that higher region in Baglung got a heavy snowfall since last night. The Dhorpatan Valley and its vicinity are covered with snow. Severe cold caused water freeze in the tap. People’s mobility is limited by the weather change.
Nishikhola, Patihalne, Khanikhola and Nisheldhor are blanketed with snow.
The people here, however, expressed happiness over the snowfall, reasoning that it helps winter crops thrive.
Heavy snowfall in Mustang, Humla and Bajura districts
Mustang: Various parts in the district have witnessed heavy snowfall since last night. The hills and mountains are blanketed with snow, while most places had rainfall as well.
The Kagbeni-Korala roadway has been blocked due to adverse weather. The snow has piled up as high as two feet. Chief of Agriculture Section at Gharapjhong rural municipality, Roshan Thakali, informed that apple, buckwheat, barely and potato farming would thrive with the winter snow.
Similarly, Simkot-based reporter for RSS informed that Humla, Mugu, Dolpa, Jumla and Kalikot districts also got the snowfall. It is occurring since Tuesday night.
Chief of District Police Office, Shankar Khadka, informed that the snow piled up to one foot has obstructed roadways at Limi, Nyalu, Yari and Hilsa.
Badimalika, Budhiganga Triveni, Budhinanda, Himali, Khaptad Chhededaha, Gaumul, Swamikarkit, Jagannath of Bajura district are also covered with heavy snow, according to a reporter.
The daily life has been badly affected by the hostile weather, but the snow is very good to the winter crops, according to Jashiram Sahani, Chief of Agriculture Knowledge Centre in the district.
