Kathmandu, March 8: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has won the election in 104 constituencies so far in ongoing vote counting for the election to the House of Representatives.
As per the results till 10:50 am today, RSP candidates are leading in 21 constituencies. According to the Election Commission, out of the results of 132 constituencies published so far, the Nepali Congress got victory in 14 constituencies as well as has maintained a lead in three constituencies.
Similarly, the CPN (UML) has won seven seats in HoR election as well as leading vote counting in three constituencies.
According to the EC, four candidates of the Nepali Communist Party have won the election so far as well as maintained a lead in three constituencies so far.
Likewise, a candidate of Shram Sanskriti Party has won the election while two candidates have maintained a lead in two places. The Rastriya Prajatantra Party and an independent candidate have got victory in one constituency each.
Towards proportional election, 2 million 761 thousand and 421 votes have been counted so far. The RSP has received 1 million 388 thousand and 421 votes while NC got 471,355 votes, CPN (UML) 380,932 votes and Nepali Communist Party 182,834 votes so far.

15- Yadav elected HoR member from Siraha-3
Siraha, March 8: Shambhu Kumar Yadav, the candidate of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been elected a member of the House of Representatives from Siraha-3. According to Chief Returning Officer Dr Shree Prakash Upreti, he was elected by securing 32,249 votes. His nearest competitor, Leela Nath Shrestha of the CPN (UML), secured 10,156 votes.
Out of a total of 119,250 voters in this electoral area, 76,430 votes were cast. Here, 41 candidates from various political parties and independent candidate were in the electoral competition.

16- RSP candidate Kharel elected HoR Member from Lalitpur-2
Patan (Lalitpur), March 8: Jagadish Kharel of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has won the election to the Member of House of Representatives (HoR) by a large margin of votes from Lalitpur Constituency No. 2.
According to Lalitpur Constituency No. 2 Election Officer Samjana Simkhada Pudasaini, Kharel has won by securing 39,941 votes. His closest competitor, Prem Krishna Maharjan of the Nepali Congress, received 7,420 votes.
Similarly, Ujiyalo Nepal Party candidate Rajaram Tandukar got 5,547 votes and CPN (UML) candidate Prem Bahadur Maharjan received 4,536 votes.
In Lalitpur-2, which has a total of 89,082 voters, 61,975, including 31,035 women and 30,940 men, had voted. There were 23 candidates from political parties and also independents in the election race in this constituency.

17- RSP’s Gelal elected from Udayapur-1
Katari, March 8: Paras Mani Gelal of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected to the House of Representatives from Udayapur-1 by securing 30,590 votes.
The Election Officer’s office has reported that Gelal was elected with a margin of 18,984 votes over his closest rival, Rajesh Kumar Rai, the candidate of the Shram Sanskriti Party.
Similarly, Baldev Chaudhary of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) received 10,021 votes, Bidur Basnet of the Nepali Congress received 9,675, and Durga Kumar Thapa of the CPN (UML) received 9,206 votes.

18- RSP candidate Tharu elected from Bardiya-1
Bardiya, March 8: Thakur Singh Tharu of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected to the House of Representatives (HoR) from Bardiya Constituency No. 1, receiving 49,631 votes.
According to the election officer’s office, his closest competitor, UML’s Shalikram Adhikari, received 14,643 votes.
Sanjay Kumar Gautam of the Nepali Congress got 12,722 votes and Bishnu Prasad Chaudhary of the Nepali Communist Party received 9,285 votes.

19- `Gold and silver prices increase in domestic market
Kathmandu, March 8: The prices of gold and silver have increased in the domestic market today.
Compared to last Friday, gold has increased by Rs 3,500 per tola (11.66 grammes) and silver by Rs 30 per tola. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of hallmark gold today is set at Rs 316,900 per tola, while the price of one tola of silver is set at Rs 5,475.
On Friday, one tola of gold was traded at Rs 313,400, and the same amount of silver was traded at Rs 5,445.
According to international media, one ounce of gold is trading at USD 5,170, and the same quantity of silver is trading at USD 85 in the international market today.

Rajbiraj (Saptari), March 8: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Amar Kanta Chaudhary has been elected to the House of Representatives (HoR) from Saptari Constituency No. 3. According to Election Officer Sitaram Acharya, he has received 32,875 votes.
Upendra Yadav of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal has received 15,239 votes while Dinesh Kumar Yadav of the Nepali Congress has received 8,428 votes.

21- Rastriya Swatantra Party candidates elected in both constituencies of Kavre
Kavrepalanchok, March 8: Under the House of Representatives election held on Thursday, candidates of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have been elected in both constituencies of Kavrepalanchok district.
From Kavrepalanchok-1, Madhu Kumar Chaulagai has won with 29,618 votes. His closest competitor, Gunaraj Moktan of Nepali Congress, received 19,166 votes.
Similarly, Dinanath Gautam of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) received 14,184 votes while Amit Lama of the CPN (UML) got 13,814 votes.
Likewise, from Kavrepalanchok-2, RSP candidate Badan Kumar Bhandari was elected with a margin of 35,476 votes. Bhandari garnered 53,344 votes while his competitor, Madhu Prasad Acharya of Nepali Congress, received 17,868 votes.
Similarly, in this area, Ashok Byanju of UML received 13,940 votes and Basundhara Humagain of NCP got 8,107 votes.

22- NC’s Giri elected HoR Member from Bajura
Bajura, March 8: Nepali Congress candidate Janak Raj Giri has been elected to the House of Representatives (HoR) member election from Bajura, securing 17,173 votes.
The Chief Election Officer Sanjeev Pokharel said that Giri’s closest competitor, Lal Bahadur Thapa, the candidate of the CPN (UML), received 16,633 votes.
According to Chief Election Officer Pokharel, Hemraj Thapa of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) received 6,035 votes, Prakash Bahadur Shah of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) received 3,428 votes, Keshar Bahadur Shahi of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) received 352 votes, and Bhupendra BK of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) received 333 votes.
Out of 87,861 registered voters in the district which is a single electoral constituency, 45,390 votes were cast. According to the Office of the Chief Election Officer of Bajura, 43,896 votes were valid when counted.

23- Women’s meaningful, qualitative participation needed: PM Karki
Kathmandu, March 8: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has called everyone to join hands together to further strengthen the culture of gender equality, democratic norms and social justice.
Extending best wishes on the occasion of International Women’s Day today, she mentioned that many women have still been deprived of quality education, basic health service, dignified employment and meaningful participation in leadership-level.
“Our goal is not only to increase participation. Meaningful and qualitative participation of women should be ensured,” reads the message.
PM Karki argued, “Now education has expanded and awareness level has risen. So, women have been moving ahead with more determination for their rights. We also need to understand that not all women are in the same situation.”
Women from socially disadvantages community and deprived from mainstream of development are even more oppressed, reads the message. She stressed the need that the voices of Dalit women, women from Karnali, Madhes and marginalized community should be clearly reflected in state’s policy making.
Prime Minister Karki added, “Building an equitable society based on equality, empowerment and social justice is today’s historical responsibility and this responsibility is shared duties of political parties civil society, private sector, media, national and international development partners, not only of state.”
“Only when women get respect, security and equal opportunity, then democracy is strengthened, sentiments of constitution is implemented as well as building of prosperous, just and equitable Nepal is possible,” reads the message.

24 116th Women’s Day: PM Karki calls for including women in policy-making levels of state
Kathmandu, March 8: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that it is necessary to bring women into the policy-making levels of the state.
At a programme held today at the Prime Minister’s Office to mark the 116th International Women’s Day, PM Karki stated that women who are marginalized in society and deprived of the mainstream development were suffering more.
“It has become imperative to bring the voices of women, especially Dalit women, women from Karnali, women from Madhes, and women from marginalized communities, to the policy-making levels of the state,” she said.
According to the PM, there has still been no improvement in the situation of marginalized women, including the women from the Dalit, Madhesi, and those from Karnali.
Prime Minister Karki emphasized the need to integrate the classes lagging behind the main stream of development, including women, into the mainstream and to ensure access to opportunities and resources.
She stated that ensuring the respectful participation of every citizen in nation-building should be the fundamental principle of democracy.
PM Karki on the occasion stressed that the main voice of the Gen Z movement on September 8 and 9, 2025 was also for equality and good governance, stating that active cooperation from every segment of society is needed to end injustice, discrimination, and inequality.
“Our constitution has guaranteed women’s rights as fundamental rights. The constitution itself has established equal representation, inclusive participation, gender equality, and social justice as the foundation of the state system,” she added.

25- Karki Commission submits report to Prime Minister
Kathmandu, March 8: The commission tasked with investigating the incidents of September 8 and 9 during the Gen-Z protests has today handed over a comprehensive 1,000-page report to Prime Minister Sushila Karki.
The commission, led by former Justice Gauri Bahadur Karki, comprised former Nepal Police Additional Inspector General Bigyan Raj Sharma and legal expert Bishweshwar Prasad Bhandari as its members.
Following the submission of the report to the Prime Minister, commission member Sharma stated that approximately 200 individuals were interrogated, and based on consultations with experts, the report has recommended actions against those deemed guilty.

Solukhumbu, March 8: Prakash Singh Karki, the candidate of the Nepali Congress, has been elected to the House of Representatives from Solukhumbu.
According to the final results of the vote counting, Karki has received 13,166 votes while his competitor, Asim Rai of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), has received 9,414 votes.
The election office stated that CPN (UML) candidate Kalpana Rai received 8,228 votes, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Rishidhan Rai received 3,642 votes, and Labor Culture Party’s BS Rai received 3,363 votes.
Out of a total of 85,515 voters, 41,401 votes were cast in the House of Representatives member election in Solukhumbu held on March 5.

Hetauda, March 8: Prakash Gautam of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected a member of the House of Representatives from Makawanpur constituency-1. He received 36,033 votes.
Gautam’s closet contender Maha Laxmi Upadhyay (Dina) of the Nepali Congress got 14,038 votes. Similarly, CPN (UML)’s Rameshwor Rana secured 12,783 votes, Bijay Gautam of the Nepali Communist Party 10,788 votes, Dipak Bahadur Singh of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Nepal, 4,574 votes and Surendra Lama of Ujyaalo Nepal Party 10,205 votes.

28- RSP’s Chaudhary wins election from Saptari-1
Rajbiraj (Saptari), March 8: Pushpa Kumari Chaudhary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has won the election to the House of Representatives from Saptari-1.
According to Election Officer, Janaki Raman Yadav, Chaudhary received 38,115 votes. Similarly, Sumit Kumar of Swabhiman Party got 7,847 votes while Suman Raj Pyakurel of the CPN (UML) secured 7,652 votes, according to the Office of the Election Officer.

29- Investigation Commission Report shall be implemented: PM
Kathmandu, March 8: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that the report received from the September 8 and 9 Incidents Investigation Commission will be put into implementation.
After receiving the report from Commission today, she said that she and the Home Minister will now study the report and present it in the Council of Ministers.
The Prime Minister said that the report would be studied and the implementation process would be taken forward. The report would be made public as warranted, she added.
PM Karki said, “We will also discuss over making the report public. If we cannot immediately make the entire document public after reviewing its details, we will at least make its conclusion public.”
She also expressed her belief that the report contains the actual situation and facts related to the incidents.
The Prime Minister appreciated the meticulous job done by the chairman and members of the commission.
Commission Chairman Gauri Bahadur Karki shared on the occasion that they worked honestly and reported in the report exactly what they saw without any prejudice.
He said that he also included suggestions in the report so that such incidents do not happen in the future.
“This incident has occurred due to mismanagement. Regulatory bodies have been distorted. There is sluggishness everywhere, from the judiciary to the executive. It has been found that the tendency of power-sharing even in constitutional appointments among parties has increased public anger. If this report is implemented, the face of the country will change,” Karki said.
Commission member Bigyan Raj Sharma stated that this report is only for review, and now the body responsible for action must conduct an investigation, and it has provided a basis for investigation.
Another member, Bishweshwar Bhandari, said that if the matters mentioned in the report regarding what to do for good governance are implemented, the situation of the country could change significantly.

Chandrapur (Rautahat), March 8: In the recent House of Representatives elections for Rautahat Constituency No. 3, Ravindra Patel from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has claimed victory.
According to Election Officer Abhdesh Prasad Kushwaha, Patel secured 27,318 votes. Gobinda Chaudhary of the Janata Samajbadi Party followed with 11,954 votes.
Kundan Kushwaha from the CPN (UML) received 6,605 votes.
Out of a total of 108,699 votes in the constituency, 76,769 were cast.

Dharan (Sunsari), March 8: In the House of Representatives election conducted on March 5, Harkaraj Rai of the Shram Sanskriti Party has been elected from Sunsari Constituency No. 1.
Election Officer Divyaraj Ghimire reported that Rai won with 35,741 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Goma Tamang of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who received 27,249 votes. Additionally, Tikaram Limbu of the CPN (UML) garnered 6,463 votes.
The electoral contest featured 26 candidates from 19 different parties and seven independents. This electoral area, which includes 27 wards such as Dharan Sub-metropolitan City, Barahkshetra, and Ramdhuni, had 150,393 registered voters, with 87,865 votes cast.

Waling (Syangja), March 8: Jhabilal Dumre of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected the Member of the House of Representatives (HoR) in Syangja Constituency No 2.
Election Officer Rishi Paudel said that Dumre was elected with 25,354 votes. Similarly, Nepali Congress’s Bhagwat Prakash Malla received 20,830 votes and CPN (UML)’s Khim Bahadur Thapa received 14,108 votes.
Out of a total of 117,930 voters, 64,928 votes were cast in the election in this constituency on March 5.

33- NC’s Shahi elected HoR Member from Mugu
Mugu, March 8: Khadak Bahadur Shahi of the Nepali Congress has been elected to the House of Representatives from Mugu.
According to Chief Election Officer Min Bahadur Kunwar, Shahi won the election with 7,914 votes. Shahi’s closest competitor, Purna Bahadur Rokaya of the CPN (UML) received 6,718 votes, while Chandra Bahadur Shahi of the Nepali Communist Party received 5,558 votes.
Similarly, Bhuvan Tamata of the Rastriya Swatantra Party received 530 votes, Bal Bahadur Malla of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party received 203 votes, Aitan Malla of the Pragatisheel Lokatantrik Party received 22 votes, and Rangabir Pariyar of the Nepali Communist Party (Maoist) received 280 votes.
Out of the registered 36,031 voters in the district, 22,115 votes were cast in the election held on March 5. Shahi is the former party president of the Nepali Congress, Mugu.
Mugu is a single electoral constituency for the HoR election.

34 – Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate Khanal wins in Kailali-2
Ghodaghodi (Kailali), March 8: KP Khanal from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has emerged victorious in Kailali Constituency No. 2. Election Officer Indra Prasad Shrestha reported that Khanal secured 19,570 votes. Patiram Chaudhary of the Nagarik Unnmukti Party Nepal garnered 11,949 votes, while Surya Bahadur Thapa from the CPN (UML) received 7,886 votes.
Vijay Bahadur Swar of the Nepali Congress obtained 7,213 votes, and Nanda Bahadur Saud from the Nepali Communist Party received 4,369 votes.
From a total of 107,757 registered voters, 56,770 ballots were cast in this constituency.

Chief Election Officer Geeta Shrestha informed that he received a total of 36,033 votes. Gautam’s nearest rival Mahalakshmi Upadhyay (Dina) of Nepali Congress received 14,038 votes in the constituency.

Mahottari, March 8: Ujjwal Kumar Jha of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has won the House of Representatives (HoR) Member election from Mahottari Constituency No. 3 with 32,451 votes.
Chief Election Officer Madhav Prasad Adhikari said that Jha’s competitors, Muhammad Rizwan of the Nepal Sanghiya Samajbadi Party, received 5,969 votes, and independent candidate Ramadhar Kapar received 4,790 votes.
Similarly, Bajaranga Nepali of the Nepali Congress received 4,342 votes and Minakshi Thakur of the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal received 3,946 votes, according to the Chief Election Officer’s office, Mahottari.
Forty-one candidates, including those from 15 political parties and 26 independents were in the election race in the district.
Out of 110,436 voters in this constituency, 64,488 votes were cast. Among the votes cast, 59,478 were valid and 5,010 were invalid, the Chief Election Officer stated.

37- EC decides to withhold election results for Dhanusha-1
Kathmandu, March 8: The Election Commission (EC) has made the decision to withhold the election results for Dhanusha-1 constituency. As per the commission’s directive, a letter was dispatched today to the office of the Election Officer for Dhanusha District Constituency No. 1, as informed by Section Officer (Law) Arun Adhikari.
The commission had previously decided to annul the candidacy of Kishori Sah ‘Kamal’, the candidate from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) for Dhanusha Constituency No. 1, on March 2 after uncovering evidence that his name appeared on the blacklist of the credit information centre.
Given that the matter concerning this decision is currently under review by the Supreme Court, the commission’s latest directive requests that the results of the first-past-the-post election for Dhanusha Constituency No. 1 remain unannounced until the court issues an order.
The letter was sent to the Provincial Election Office for notification, asking it to relay the information to the appropriate Election Officer’s office and to keep the commission updated, according Adhikari.

38 – Shram Sanskriti Party’s Rai elected from Bhojpur
Taksar (Bhojpur), March 8: Dhruba Raj Rai of the Shram Sanskriti Party has been elected to the House of Representatives from Bhojpur. The election office has stated that Rai received a total of 16,663 votes.
Similarly, Sherdhan Rai of CPN (UML) received 14,750 votes, Bal Krishna Thapa of Nepali Congress received 8,670 votes, Ramesh Ojha of Rastriya Swatantra Party received 6,602 votes, and Ajambar Rai Kangmang of Nepali Communist Party received 5,728 votes.
In Bhojpur, 12 candidates from 12 political parties were in the election race. Out of a total of 125,766 voters, 46.17 percent voted. Among them, 58,167 votes were counted.

middle-east countries
Kathmandu, March 8: The Association of Nepali Origin (ANO) has drawn attention of the government asking it to pay attention on security of Nepalese working in the countries in the Middle East in recent period.
A conference of ANO held in Hong Kong on Saturday passed a proposal that the government should pay special attention to and make necessary efforts towards security of Nepalese residing in the Middle East countries in the context of security challenge seen in the world.
The conference also passed the proposal that mutual unity among all Nepali language speaking citizens in the world and such power should be used in the welfare of Nepal by protecting and promoting Nepali origin people.
Hong Kong’s First Nepalese District Councilor First Nepali of Hong Kong government, Aruna Gurung, and ANO’s International Committee General-Secretary Chuda Mani Bhattarai inaugurated the conference where a large number of Nepali origin and Nepali speaking people living in Hong Kong had participated, reads a press release issued by ANO.
On the occasion, ANO’s International Committee General-Secretary Bhattarai, member Khusi Gurung and District Councilor Aruna Gurung, wished the ANO for its success to connect Nepali origin people no matter in which countries they were born and raised, and transferring culture.

40- Election successful in promoting effective governance: Home Minister Aryal
Kathmandu, March 8: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal emphasized that effective governance was maintained by the House of Representatives elections of 2082. In a statement to government media following the election security assessment held today at the Election Commission office in Bahadur Bhawan, he remarked that this success was achieved based on the understanding that electoral good governance serves as the cornerstone of political good governance.
There were no cases of proxy voting in this election, and all government bodies worked in a coordinated manner to ensure the election took place as scheduled. The Ministry of Home Affairs exhibited collective leadership, and the election was well-coordinated. Efforts were implemented under a comprehensive integrated security strategy from the central to the provincial and ward levels, and the election was concluded by decentralizing leadership,” he stated.

41- Govt. successful in conducting elections under difficult
circumstances: Law Minister Sinha
Kathmandu, March 8: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anil Kumar Sinha has stated that the government has been successful in conducting elections under difficult circumstances. After a review meeting at the Election Commission today, he mentioned that the government, formed with the responsibility of holding elections in tough situations, has accomplished its main task.
“Even when facing various types of pressures, the Commission has played a leading role in completing the elections on time,” he said. “There was coordination with various political parties to create an environment for the elections.”
The upcoming government should work not out of a desire for change but to provide convenient services to the people and work for economic prosperity, he suggested. Minister Sinha stated that the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs will fulfill the minimum requirements to convene the first meeting of parliament in the new parliamentary building for the elected members.
Minister Sinha also informed that preparations are being made to hold the first parliamentary meeting in the new parliamentary building under construction within Singha Durbar.

Sudurpaschim, March 8: The final results of vote counting of all five constituencies in Kailali district under the election to the House of Representatives have been published.
Khem Raj Koirala of Rastriya Swatantra Party won the election in Kailali-4 , securing 28,556 votes.
His nearest rival Gorakh Bahadur Bista of the Nepali Congress got 11,301 votes. According to Election Officer Hari Prasad Acharya, Lekhraj Bhatta of the CPN (UML) received 9,444 votes as well as Nepali Communist Party’s Hari Ram Chaudhary got 5,609 votes.
RSP’s KP Khanal has been elected a member of HoR from Kailali-2, receiving 19,057 votes, Komal Gyawali from Kailali-1 with 17,826 votes, Jagat Prasad Joshi from Kailali-3, securing 19,893 votes.
Similarly, Ananda Bahadur Chand won the election in Kailali-5, receiving 31,953 votes, according to the Office of Election Officer.

Kathmandu, March 8: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Shraddha Shrestha, has said that it is necessary to move forward on the journey of building a gender-equal nation while ensuring women’s rights.
Issuing a best wishes message on the occasion of the 116th International Women’s Day today, she emphasized that in order to achieve the objectives of gender equality and women’s empowerment, equal access of women must be ensured in all spheres of the state, such as education, health, employment, decision-making processes, and politics.
Minister Shrestha said that the women’s movement, which began with the issue of establishing women’s rights and has gone through various ups and downs, celebrates the ‘Day of rights, justice, and opportunities with work for all women and children’.
She referred to Article 38 of the Constitution of Nepal that ensures women’s rights by ending gender-based discrimination and inhumane practices such as atrocities, exploitation, oppression, and violence against women, and guarantees equality between men and women.

45 – RSP’s Gauri Kumari elected from Mahottari-4
Jaleshwar (Mahottari), March 8: Gauri Kumari of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected from Mahottari constituency No. 4 under the House of Representatives election.
According to Chief Election Officer Madhav Prasad Adhikari, as per the vote count concluded today in constituency No. 4, Gauri Kumari secured victory by receiving 30,132 votes.
The office of the Chief Election Officer stated that her competitor, Surendra Kumar Yadav, candidate of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), received 8,745 votes, Nilam Adhikari, candidate of the CPN (UML), received 6,944 votes, and Mahendra Kumar Rai of the Nepali Congress received 6,192 votes.
