EC successful to hold HoR election on slated date: Bhandari

Kathmandu, March 25: Officiating Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari has shared that the Election Commission held the election to the House of Representatives on the slated date despite various complications and obstacles.
Addressing a tea reception organised at the EC premises on Wednesday, he mentioned that the EC held the election in around six months from announcing the election date to submitting the report along with election results.

Bhandari argued that the EC worked round-the-clock to create easy and appropriate environment for the election by holding consultation with political parties amidst doubts expressed from various sides about the election.
The Commission was successful to fulfill its major responsibility of ensuring the people’s sovereign rights and contributing further to strengthening democracy through election, as entrusted by the constitution and law.

He underlined that the EC family is proud of successfully holding the election in peaceful, impartial, systematic and fear-free environment on the slated date as well as submitting the election report along with results before the President by carrying out election related activities in a planned manner.

President Ramchandra Paudel, Vice-President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, senior most member of the House of Representatives, Arjun Narsingh KC, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal, ministers, chiefs of constitutional bodies, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions were present on the occasion. —
