President summons joint session of federal parliament

Kathmandu, March 30: President Ramchandra Paudel has, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, summoned a session of both houses of the federal parliament at 2:00 pm on Thursday.

The Council of Ministers had made the recommendation earlier today as per Article 93 (1) of the Constitution, shared Spokesperson of the Office of the President, Ritesh Kumar Shakya.

Earlier, the cabinet meeting held today had decided to recommend to the President to summon the session.


Inaugural session of new parliament on Thursday

The government has decided to recommend to the President to summon the inaugural session of the federal parliament on Thursday.

The time for the session has been proposed for 2:00 pm. Government spokesperson and Minister for Education, Science and Technology Sasmit Pokharel told media persons that the cabinet meeting held today decided to recommend to the President to summon the joint session of the parliament on April 2.

The meeting also decided to form a task force under the leadership of the Prime Minister’s political advisor to develop a discussion paper on amendment of the constitution.

The task force will include representatives of the political parties in the parliament and is being formed as per the letter of pledge (manifesto) made public by the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Minister and RSP leader Pokharel said.

This was the second meeting of the Council of Ministers formed under the chair of Prime Minister Balendra Shah last Friday. —
