Dialogue, consensus, collaboration are foundation of democracy: HoR session Chair KC

Kathmandu, April 2: House of Representatives (HoR) session chair Arjun Narsingh KC has empathized on collaboration and coordination in keeping political stability, good governance and rule of law.

In his address to the first meeting of the HoR today, Chair KC said the HoR election held on last March 5 has yielded epoch-making results after that of the first-ever parliamentary elections held in 2015 BS and stressed the need of overhauling the governance system to live up to the expectations of the people.

Noting that the people are anticipating high from the newly-formed HoR as a beacon of hope, KC said the people are expecting reforms not only in government but also the culture of governance.

Congratulating Prime Minister Balendra Shah and members of the Council of Ministers, the senior-most member of the HoR termed the 100-point reform programme unveiled by the government as a welcoming move.

During his address, KC highlighted dialogue, consensus and tolerance as the foundation of democracy while highlighting the need of constructive collaboration between the ruling and opposition.

It may be noted that KC chaired the newly-formed HoR as the senior-most member of the House in the context the election to the Speaker is yet to be held. —
