Nepal, Gandaki, April 23: The District Police Office, Kaski, conducted a ‘sweep operation’ last night at five locations in Pokhara and took 122 individuals engaged in illegal activities into custody.
Police Inspector and Officiating Information Officer Ganesh Pandey said that those who created disturbances at night, disrupted public peace and security, and consumed illegal drugs such as cannabis were apprehended. “Among those arrested, 82 have been found to have consumed drugs, and some were also found with cannabis.
A simultaneous sweep operation was conducted in areas including Baidam, Rambazar, Shishuwa, Bagar, and in the area around the District Police Office,” he said.
According to Police Inspector Pandey, 39 people were arrested from the Baidam area, 40 from the Rambazaar area, 20 from Shishuwa, 12 from Bagar and 11 from around the DPO. A team deployed from the District Police Office and its subordinate police units carried out the ‘sweep operation’.
He said that all the men arrested last night were mostly from the youth group. A few days ago, women who harassed and cheated tourists in the Lakeside area were taken into custody and legal action was initiated against them. —
Government decides not to relocate Police Academy
The government has decided not to relocate Maharajgunj-based National Police Academy.
A cabinet meeting held today decided that the Academy would use its all land as before, shared Spokesperson of the government, Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Sasmit Pokharel. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on September 6, 2018 had decided to provide the Academy’s land to the Office of the President.
Similarly, the government has formed a team under coordination of joint-secretary of the Finance Ministry to give authority for negotiation, preparation of memorandum of understanding and document regarding obtaining concessional Water Supply and Sewerage Management Project as well as to sign the MoU.
Likewise, a taskforce has been formed under coordination of Communications and Information Technology advisor to study software and information technology-related issues in government agencies —
