Nepal, Kathmandu, April 26: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has advanced a drive to free education sector from political meddling since Minister Sashmit Pokharel assumed office.
In addition to freeing schools and universities of politically affiliated students’ unions, Minister Pokharel has underscored a structural reform in this sector in a bid to foster a clean and academic atmosphere. Enhancement of quality education and online dispensation of no objection certificates (NOC) have also been stressed.
In line with 100 point reform agenda the government made public after its commencement, the Ministry sorted out the issues in its area and forwarded activities accordingly. The schools are reminded of student enrollment, fee management and improvement in academic calendar. As per government plan, formation of ‘student council’ or ‘voice of student’ is getting enforced soon.
The Kathmandu University has begun preparation for formation of the student council. The Ministry also insisted on ensuring exam results on time. An alternative evaluation system is being introduced to replace the writing exam for the students up to Grade 5. Delivery-based governance of education sector is prioritized. Information system is being improved for integrated scheme.
For this, network issue is resolved at GIDC. All local levels have been written by the federal ministry to ensure scholarships at institutional schools and submit reports accordingly. —
