Rolpa jeep accident death toll rises 20

Dang, May 1: The death toll of Rolpa jeep accident has reached 20. The death toll reached 20 after the bodies of two more persons recovered in course of search and rescue operation, said Information Officer at the District Police Office, Rolpa, Police Inspector Sunil Thapa Nepali.

The identities of the deceased have not been ascertained yet. Similarly, Samir Kami, 32, of Sisne rural municipality-5 of Rukum East was injured in the accident.

The accident took place when the jeep (Lu 1 Ja 4167) heading towards Jaljala of Thabang rural municipality of Rolpa from Rukum East fell some 800 meters off the road.

A team under the leadership of Police Chief of Rolpa, Birendra Bishwokarma, reached the incident site and carried out rescue operation, he added. Rolpa police shared that problem has surfaced in search and rescue operation due to geographical difficulties and rainfall. —
