600 plus people benefit from health camp

Myagdi, May 28: More than 600 people benefited from a free health camp concluded at Darbang village of Malika Rural Municipality-6 in Myagdi district on Wednesday.

The health camp was run for free to provide obstetrics and gynecology care. The organizer said that a total of 614 people visited the camp in the two-day free health camp run with support from Birat Cancer Hospital and Birat Medical College.

Screening of uterine cancer and other care for women’s health were carried out in the health camp, according to Puja Koirala, the chair of the organizing team.

She added that disseminating public awareness and ensuring access to treatment services were the purposes of the health camp. Oncologist Dr Binod Aryal and gynecologist Dr Babita Shah, and other health professionals carried out the tests of patients and provided counselling services.

Likewise, some medicines were distributed for free. Koirala shared that 15 women diagnosed with uterine cancer were referred to Dhaulagiri Provincial Hospital in Baglung for further treatment. —
