‘Focus on research for country development’

Kathmandu, June 13: Nepali researchers have laid emphasis on comprehensive research in every sector for the country’s development.
In the second national conference organized by the Nepal Philosophical Research Centre (NPRC) and the Researchers’ Society starting Friday, the speakers underlined the wider scope of research for national development.
On the occasion, Prof Dr Krishna Prasad Acharya from Tribhuvan University argued only quality research can contribute to the country’s development, highlighting the need of nurturing a research culture not just in education and teaching but across all sectors for national progress.
NPRC President Dr Tej Bahadur Karki stressed that programmes should be based on research for sustainable development.
He added that the country will gain progress only when knowledge repository of Eastern philosophy is well documented and applied.
Vice-chair of the NPRC, Dr Dasharath Neupane, insisted that research should not be limited to personal gain but should largely contribute to the development of society and the nation.
As many as 50 researchers who have pursued PhD and postdoctoral studies from various universities participated in the conference.
The two-day conference also included a review of the Chitlang Declaration.
The declaration, adopted four years ago in Chitlang, Makwanpur, outlined the need of infrastructure and academic environment for quality research. —
