Bharatpur, June 20: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP)’s central committee meeting is taking place today.
The meeting to be held at Bharatpur-based CAT Hotel at 1.00 pm today will dwell on preparations of the first general convention of the party, statute amendment proposal endorsed by central secretariat and contemporary organizational affairs, central member Rajan Gautam informed.
He shared that the meeting will make the final review of the preparations needed for the general convention and decide on various proposals.
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) will hold its first historic conclave in Chitwan starting tomorrow.
Representatives and observers from across the country will participate in the convention.
The party, through the convention, will select new leadership and make important decisions regarding its future political direction and organizational expansion, RSP sees the convention in Chitwan as an important opportunity for its organizational development and institutional strengthening, Gautam shared.

04- RSP general convention: E-voting facility, voters from abroad can vote via app
Chitwan, June 20: E-voting facility is to be made available in the general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
According to RSP’s election commission chief Bhuwan KC, voters can cast their votes by touching names and photos of candidates on an electronic device.
It is estimated that the first phase of voting will be completed in about six hours.
Voting will take place for one chairperson and 99 members In the first phase.
KC informed that elections for vice-chairperson, general secretary, and joint general secretary will be held in the second phase from the elected members.
KC shared that the nomination process will start at 2 pm on June 22, and the first phase of elections is planned for the same evening.
After the first phase is completed by the night of June 22, the second phase will be held on June 23, according to KC.
The second phase of the election will be only for office bearers. He shared that there is an estimated 3,000 representatives.
For representatives from abroad, RSP has arranged voting through its own app. Among the 170 representatives from abroad, can vote via the app.

05- ‘Hello Home Call Center’ launched
Kathmandu, June 20: The Ministry of Home Affairs has launched a call center to receive and address grievances, complaints and suggestions concerning its areas of responsibilities.
Named “Hello Home Call Center”, the facility was launched with the objective to make the Ministry’s services more effective, transparent, and responsive, Spokesperson at the Ministry Ananda Kafle shared.
The facility has been established under the Grievances Management Section within the Ministry.

06- Over 700,000 visitors discover Mustang’s wonders in 11 Months
Myagdi, June 20: In the current fiscal year 2082/83 BS, Mustang has welcomed over 700,000 tourists, with a total of 705,754 individuals entering the region from July to May.
This figure matches the total number of visitors from the previous fiscal year, indicating a steady interest in the area. The data, collected by the border police station in Mustang, highlights that 460,924 of these tourists were domestic, while 244,830 were international, arriving via 151,160 vehicles along the Beni-Jomsom road.
Notably, May saw a significant influx of tourists, with 90,939 foreign and 40,838 local visitors recorded, utilizing 27,488 vehicles. The increase in Indian tourists is attributed to a dollar-saving policy by the Indian government, which has made travel to destinations like Mustang more appealing.
The region has become particularly popular among Nepali tourists during public holidays, leading to full bookings in accommodations along the Beni-Jomsom route.
The peak tourist season in Mustang typically occurs in May, coinciding with the start of summer. Police Inspector Santosh Basyal noted that approximately 80 percent of foreign visitors are from India, with many drawn to the sacred Muktinath Temple, a significant religious site in the area.
Tourists also visit Mustang for various other attractions and activities, contributing to its status as a favored destination.

07- Over 4,200 delegates for RSP general convention
Kathmandu, June 20: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is set to convene with over 4,200 delegates, as indicated by preliminary data from the Central Secretariat. The current count stands at 3,810 delegates, with an additional 200 representatives expected from the Overseas Nepalese Liaison Department (ONLD) across 25 countries.
According to party secretariat, the party’s statute allows for 200 nominations by the President, and further additions may occur through group entries into the party.
The final list of delegates will be compiled by addressing any objections, duplicates, and discrepancies identified in the preliminary list, with a completion deadline set for the evening following a Central Committee meeting.
The distribution of representatives from various regions includes 520 from Koshi, 630 from Madhes, 790 from Bagmati, 490 from Lumbini, 470 from Gandaki, 360 from Karnali, and 550 from Sudur Paschchim.
Representation at the convention will encompass a diverse array of roles, including municipal and regional chairpersons, district chairpersons, and members of provincial committees. Additionally, delegates from provincial departments, disciplinary commissions, and advisory councils will be included.
The structure also allows for representation from various municipal levels, with specific numbers allocated for rural municipalities, municipalities, sub-metropolitan cities, and metropolitan cities, alongside delegates from the Provincial and District Liaison Departments.
On Sunday, the opening session will be held at Guesthouse ground in Bharatpur, while the closing session will be held at the Exhibition Centre. Leaders including party president Ravi Lamichhane have arrived in Chitwan for the convention.
Prime Minister and senior party leader Balendra Shah is scheduled to come to Chitwan on Sunday.
The RSP general convention is taking place from June 21 to 23.

08- Energy Minister visits Marsyangdi Power Plant
Damauli (Tanahun), June 20: Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, the Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, has conducted an inspection of the Marsyangdi hydropower project’s power house.
During the visit, Minister Shrestha gathered information from the project’s technical staff regarding the various structures, equipment, and operational conditions of the power plant.
On this occasion, Minister Shrestha highlighted the significant role of hydropower projects in ensuring the country’s energy security and stressed the importance of enhancing production capacity and fortifying infrastructure.
Sher Mohammad Hussain, the project head, provided Minister Shrestha with details about the power plant, which currently generates a total of 69 MW of electricity.

09- ‘Policy issues behind nonoperation of Gautam Budhha International Airport’
Devdaha (Rupandehi), June 20: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Khadak Raj Paudel, has said the Gautambuddha International Airport will come into operation in the future.
Speaking at a programme organised in Bhairahaa of Rupandehi on Friday, the Minister has said the government is preparing to bring the airport into full operation.
He argued that there is no truth to claims that political and diplomatic reasons are behind the airport’s non-operation. Policy issues are responsible for it.
He added that the provisions have been made to obtain labour permits through home services, eliminating the need to travel to Kathmandu for the purpose. The Minister also stressed the need to utilise the country’s aviation services to bring in more tourists. He also echoed the need to develop the Nijgadh Airport in the future.
