Kathmandu, July 1: The German Embassy in Nepal has issued a clarification regarding media reports related to the passport procurement case.
Posting a statement on its official Facebook page today, the Embassy asserted Nepal’s Charge d’Affaires to Germany was invited, not summoned, to attend a meeting at the German Federal Foreign Office.
The German diplomatic mission in Nepal also clarified that no protest note or any other official document was handed over during the meeting. It further stated that no warning was given about possible consequences depending on the outcome of the proceedings.
“Germany fully respects the independence of the judiciary. In fact, it is a principle enshrined in our Constitution,” the Embassy stated in the post.
It added, “As a matter of principle, the Embassy does not comment on ongoing court proceedings, and we have not done so at any point in this case.” —
