Bhaktapur, July 13: Bhaktapur district has been declared a fully vaccinated district after all the children in the district eligible for vaccination, that is, 10,743 children, have completed all their vaccinations.
At the programme organized by the District Public Health Office in Madhyapur Thimi, Bagmati Province Health Minister Kiran Thapa Magar declared Bhaktapur district as a fully vaccinated district and handed over the certificate related to this to the Office.
On that occasion, Province Minister Thapa said that the vaccination programme has not only saved children’s lives but also laid the foundation for building a healthy society.
He stated that a budget has been allocated for expanding cardiology services at Bhaktapur Hospital, a budget of Rs 150 million has been earmarked for installing a state-of-the-art MRI machine at Khwopa Hospital, and developing Suryabinayak Municipal Hospital as a trauma centre.
Suresh Shrestha, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Bagmati Province, mentioned that Bhaktapur Hospital has been recognized as one of the outstanding hospitals in the country.
Dr. Sumitra Gautam, Secretary of Bagmati Province Health Ministry, expressed the view that since the declaration of full vaccination coverage has reduced child mortality by about 80 percent each year, maintaining its sustainability is a big responsibility.
Head of the Public Health Office Bhaktapur, Anjana Khadka, shared on the occasion that 5,050 children from birth to 16 months and 5,684 children from 16 to 23 months in the district have received all the necessary vaccinations completely.

15- Over 320 street animals managed in Pokhara metropolis
Gandaki, July 13: More than 320 street cattle have been managed in Pokhara metropolitan city.
The Pokhara metropolis has ensured proper care and protection of cattle that were left unattended. Pushkarani Paropakar Gokuldham has been managing care for the street animals to avoid road accidents.
The Gokuldham has started selling milk and compost fertilizer from such street animals. Municipal Police Inspector Purushottam Thapa shared that they drop the street animals at Bachchhibuduwa of Pokhara metropolitan city-14 through animal rescue vehicle of the metropolis.
There are more than 320 animals including cows, oxen and calves in the Gaushala. The Pokhara metropolis has been providing financial assistance to Gaushala every year.

16- Traffic again halted at Gaganekhola on Karnali highway
Manma (Kalikot), July 13: Traffic has been disrupted again on a section of the Karnali Highway at Shubhakalika of Kalikot district due to a landslide at local Gaganekhola, Shubhakalik Rural Municipality-1.
The District Police Office reported that the road at Gaganekhola has been completely blocked since this morning due to a landslide with debris.
The Road Division Office is working to clear the road using an excavator, said Janak Sharma, the spokesperson and information officer of the District Administration Office.
Gaganekhola is prone to landslide and the road gets blocked most often every year even when there is normal rain. On Friday too, it was blocked because a landslide with debris took place at this place.

17- Two killed in landslide in Kalikot
Manma (Kalikot), July 13: Two persons have died after being buried in a landslide in Kalikot this afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Mandir Saud, 46, and Lal Bahadur Saud, 76, of Sanni Triveni rural municipality-6, according to the District Police Office.
The landslide buried them at 1:30 pm when they were at a water mill (pani ghatta) to grind wheat. They died on the spot in the incident, said District Police Office Chief, Him Bahadur Khatri.
The incident site is located around 10 kilometers away from police post in Mehalmudi, said police.

18- Rainfall in most parts of the country, including Kathmandu
Kathmandu, July 13: Major parts of the country including the Kathmandu Valley are experiencing rainfall today.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, it has been raining in most parts of all provinces except Sudur Pacshim and Karnali provinces, where it has been raining in few places only.
Some of the areas have received heavy to very heavy rain, while some areas have received moderate rain, said the Department’s senior meteorologist Min Kumar Aryal. He said that this trend will continue throughout the day and urged everyone to take necessary precautions as the rain will increase further tonight.
According to the records currently received by the department, in the last 24 hours, Makawanpurgadhi and Myagdi have received the most rain, 121 millimeters (very heavy) rainfall. This is followed by Sunsari which received 117 millimeters and Udayapur that received 106 millimeters (very heavy) rain. Heavy rain has also been recorded in some other districts, including Kathmandu.
According to the measurements taken at the Chandragiri Rain Measurement Center in Kathmandu, 93.6 millimeters of rain have already fallen.
Similarly, Sindhuli received 93 mms of rain, Jhapa 84 mm, Sankhuwasabha 52 mm, Taplejung 64 mm, Solukhumbu 58 mm, Sindhupalchowk 68 mm, Chitwan 84 mm, Nawalpur 85 mm, Nawalparasi West 69 mm, Palpa 98 mm, Banke 57 mm and Kailali 57 mm (heavy rainfall). Other districts received moderate rainfall, the department said.
Currently, monsoon winds are affecting the country and the rain is happening because the low pressure line of the monsoon is slightly above the average position and is close to the Tarai region of Nepal, said Meteorologist Aryal.

19- Kaligandaki Corridor reopens after eight hours
Dhorpatan (Baglung), July 13: The Kaligandaki Corridor, which was blocked due to a landslide triggered by continuous rain, has reopened after eight hours.
The road was blocked this morning due to a landslide in Belbagar of Jaimini Municipality-8 under the Baglung section of the corridor.
Rameshwor Twati, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, informed that the road was reopened after about eight hours using landslide debris removal equipment since morning. He said that it took time to reopen the road due to continuous rain.
As soon as the road was opened, stranded vehicles and passengers headed towards their respective destinations, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Twati.

20- NC will play constructive role keeping the nation at centre: Leader Angdembe
Kathmandu, July 13: Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Bhishma Raj Angdembe has asserted that the NC would play a constructive and active role in the House of Representatives as the main opposition party keeping the nation in centre.
During a meeting with media persons reporting on parliamentary affairs at the NC Parliamentary Party Office, today, he underlined that the NC would play positive role to make the ruling parties responsible towards the parliament and people.
Leader Angdembe mentioned that his party would move ahead incorporating all opposition parties to prevent parliamentary committees from becoming hostage of indecisions.
“As a main opposition party, we have cooperated in forwarding parliamentary proceedings while uniting all opposition parties despite disagreement. We will play a role to make ruling party accountable towards parliament and people,” he argued.

21- Ghimire appointed NTA chair while Shrestha to lead Press Council
Kathmandu, July 13: Arjun Ghimire has been appointed as the Chairperson of Nepal Telecommunications Authority and Umesh Shrestha as the Chair of Press Council Nepal.
They were appointed as per the decision of the Council of Ministers on July 8.
The newly appointed chairs received their appointment letters from Minister for Information and Communications Dr Bikram Timilsina today.
After presenting the appointment letters, Communications Minister Dr Timilsina congratulated the newly appointed chairs of both the organizations who were selected through a competitive process and directed them to work in a result-oriented manner.
Stating that the recommendation committee selected them for the post based on their confidence that they could discharge their responsibilities in a fair, impartial and result-oriented manner, Communications Minister Dr Timilsina directed them to play a significant role as the head of the regulatory body and to do exemplary work in the field of information and communications.
He said that the role of the Press Council will be important in making the media sector more responsible, dignified and effective. The Communications Minister stated that misinformation and disinformation are the major challenges in the media sector at present and pointed out the need to identify and address them.
Similarly, Minister of Communications Dr. Timilsina said that if the media sector can be further strengthened, the media world will benefit the most, so there is a need for positive intervention on the part of the Council.
He stated that old laws are being revised and informed that discussions on the draft of the Media Council Bill and the Mass Media Bill have already progressed.
Minister for Communications Dr Timilsina, while discussing the importance of the telecommunications sector, suggested moving forward by formulating a short-term, medium-term and long-term action plan keeping the interests of the citizens and the quality of services at the center. The ministry is always ready to create a suitable environment for the necessary policy and institutional support, he said.
The newly appointed chair of the Press Council, Shrestha, mentioned that although the nature of the media has changed, the law related to the Press Council is outdated and pointed out the need to amend it in a timely manner.
He said that his priority would be to further strengthen the system of self-regulation in journalism by effectively implementing the journalist code of conduct. Expressing his commitment to work as a bridge of trust between the government and the media sector, Chair Shrestha said that the Council would remain active in promoting responsible journalism along with protecting press freedom.
Similarly, the newly appointed NTA Chair, Ghimire, expressed his commitment to work by focusing on solving problems by eliminating the existing shortcomings in the telecommunications sector. He made it clear that he was in favor of building a citizen-oriented, responsible and effective telecommunications sector and expressed his commitment to provide quality and customer-friendly services in cooperation, collaboration and coordination with the Ministry of Communications and other stakeholders.

22- Shared responsibility of all to protect, promote birthplace of Bhanubhakta, Chief Minister says
Dumre, July 13: Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendra Raj Pandey has said that all three layers of government and the local people are responsible to protect and promote the birthplace of Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya.
At a programme organized by Bhanu Janmasthal Bikas Samiti at Chudiramgha in Bhanu Municipality on the occasion of 213th birth anniversary of Bhanubhakta today, the Chief Minister said the birthplace of Bhanubhakta should be simultaneously developed for its tourism and lingual development.
“Adikavi Bhanubhakta united all of us through the Nepali language. Now, let’s make commitment to connect every citizen from Tanahun district through development and prosperity,” Pandey added.
On the occasion, Pandey said the relevance of Bhanu Literary Centre would be intensive with the passage of time adding that Nepali diaspora will visit this place for the identity of their language and literature after hundreds of years.

23- Two Nepali athletes leave for Jordan to compete in judo championship
Kathmandu, July 13: Two Nepali athletes are competing in Asian Cadet and Junior Judo Championship to be held at Amman of Jordan.
Among them, Bishesh BK is competing in men’s under 66 kg category while Sabin Kumar Diyali in men’s under 60 kg category in the championship taking place from July 16-19.
The Nepali team left for Amman today. General-Secretary of Nepal Judo Association, Prakash Chandra Pandey, is the team manager while Kabi Ram Gharti Magar is coach.
Chairperson of Nepal Judo Association, Dipak Harsha Bajracharya, is also in the team.
Executive Committee member of the National Sports Council, Sikka Suwal Shrestha, bade farewell to the Nepali team amidst a function organised here today and wished for the success of the players.

24- Ministry of Education distributes relief materials to students in Holding Center
Kathmandu, July 13: The Ministry of Education and Sports has distributed educational and sports materials to students residing in the Holding Center housing landless settlers in Kharipati and Bode in Bhaktapur.
Government Spokesperson and Minister for Education Sasmit Pokharel today handed over relief materials to 21 students residing in Kharipati and 18 students residing in Bode. Educational materials including bags, pens and paper, as well as sports materials including carromboard, badminton, chess, volleyball, etc. have been distributed to students in the Holding Centers.
On the occasion, Minister Pokharel said that the government is committed to ensuring the right to education of children.
Similarly, government spokesperson and Minister Pokharel requested people to be assured that necessary coordination and cooperation is being done among the relevant ministries for the overall management of the health and safety of the citizens living in the Holding Centers.
Education Minister Pokharel expressed his commitment to resolve the problem with necessary facilitation if any problems are seen during the enrollment of students in the Holding Centers and their transportation. Bus arrangements have been made from tomorrow, Tuesday, with the aim of making it easier for students living in the Holding Centers to go to school.
Minister Pokharel, along with officials from the Education and Human Resource Development Center under the Ministry of Education had reached the Holding Center.
Earlier, on Sunday, a team led by Home Minister Sudhan Gurung and the relevant ministers had conducted an on-site inspection of the Holding Centers and obtained information about the livelihood of the squatters living there, the problems they are facing, and government facilities they are receiving.

25- Information Minister holds discussions with Digital Media Society on status of media industry
Kathmandu, July 13: Minister for Information and Communications Dr Bikram Timilsina on Monday held discussions with the ‘Digital Media Society’ on present status of media industry, challenges and policy reforms for future.
During the meeting organized at the Ministry, Dr Timilsina stated that a robust democracy was unlikely without a robust media industry and promised the government’s readiness to resolve the existing challenges the media industry facing.
Minister Dr Timilsina said that the Ministry was committed to ensuring further robust, institutional, credible and professional media, and expected support from all stakeholders in this regard.
Minister Dr Timilsina also stressed that the media industry should maintain its own dignity, credibility and social responsibility.
Likewise, the Minister added that the government was working on policy, legal and institutional reforms in the media sector to further strengthen this sector and make it more dignified.
On the occasion, Minister Dr Timilsina expressed concerns to the trends of distribution and dissemination of sensational news by spreading fake news and deep fake created by the use of artificial intelligence. He called for cooperation to tackle such serious challenges surfaced in the media fraternity.
During the meeting, Minister Dr Timilsina shared that discussions on mass communications bill and media council bill have been initiated, and added that the bills will be made contextual and practical based on the recommendations received from stakeholders.
On the occasion, representatives of the Digital Media Society said that the role of the Press Council should be made strong for effective regulations of the media sector, self-discipline and implementation of the professional code of conducts.

26- People requested to avoid unnecessary travel
Chitwan, July 13: The District Administration Office, Chitwan, has requested the people to avoid travel except in case of urgency considering the risk of possible landslide and floods due to incessant rainfall.
The local administration requested all not to make unnecessary travel along the Narayangadh-Muglin section and Prithvi highway as landslides and flood might take place along these sections due to rainfall.
A notice issued by Assistant Chief District Officer, Chiranjivi Sharma, requested the general public to coordinate with nearby security bodies while traveling. They are also requested to coordinate with bodies concerned like local governments and division road office.
A meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee held on Monday urged the passengers to adopt precaution, citing vehicular movement might be obstructed at different places of national highways including Narayangadh-Muglin section due to landslides following incessant rainfall.
Various bodies including security bodies, road office, irrigation and water resources project, are requested to remain on standby with machinery and tools, shared Sharma.
The Committee pointed out Tuin khola and Seti Dobhan as high risk areas of landslide. The meeting also instructed to make vacant old holding centres used by the then District Development Committee and Nepal Red Cross Society since 2058 BS considering the possible risk from monsoon-induced disaster.
It also asked to clean the holding centres and keep it on standby. The meeting also requested the people living in riverside areas to adopt high precaution.

27- Special employment plan for landless squatters
Kathmandu, July 13: The government is going to introduce a special employment plan targeting the landless squatters living in holding centers across the country.
Meeting the squatters at the holding center in Bode, Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment Ramji Yadav pledged to identify the needs and introduce skill development and employment programs accordingly to ensure employment for them.
The Domestic Employment Division of the Ministry of Youth, Employment and Labour and its units have already started homework towards that end.
Labour Minister Yadav said that the ministry is working intensively to launch programs targeting the landless squatters linked to skills and capacity development and employment.
In the case of squatters, suitable employment and entrepreneurship programs will be selected based on the training need assessment.
On Sunday, Labour Minister Yadav had joined other ministers to visit holding centers in Kharipati and Bode in Bhaktapur and listen to the grievances of the squatters and resolve their problems.

28- Flood in Kaski river damages under-construction Upper Modi ‘A’ hydel project
Gandaki, July 13: A massive flood in the Kimrung river in Annapurna Rural Municipality-11 of Kaski district has caused damages to the under construction Upper Modi ‘A’ hydropower project.
The flood that occurred on Sunday entered the project site, causing damages to some physical infrastructures and equipment.
Project’s technician Kumar Madhu Belbase said that a concrete batching plant, a crusher plant and other structures were damaged in the flooding.
Likewise, the access route to the project site was damaged in different sections while the drum, pipe and other materials of the project were flooded, according to Belbase.
A junior police official said that the project could have witnessed damages of properties worth Rs 10 million as per the preliminary estimates.
The project of 42 megawatts was initiated nearly two years ago.
Meanwhile, the flood also washed away a suspension bridge over the Kimrung river.

29- Traffic halted in Tribhuvan, Bhimphedi, Kulekhani and Kanti highway
Makawanpur, July 13: Traffic has been halted in various rural municipalities of Makawanpur, citing the possibility of landslides due to incessant rainfall.
In a notice issued by the District Administration Office, Makawanpur, it has been stated that all types of vehicles going towards Kathmandu via Daman-Palung on the Tribhuvan Highway have been stopped from 5:00 pm today to 5:00 am on Tuesday.
A police team deployed by the District Police Office from Chowkitol in Hetauda has completely banned vehicles going towards Kathmandu and Bhimphedi from 5:00 pm today, Assistant Chief District Officer of the District Administration Office, Mohan Raj Joshi, informed RSS.
The District Administration Office has also banned all types of vehicles from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am every day on the Kanti highway connecting Hetauda and Kathmandu, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Prasad Kafle, spokesperson of the District Police Office.

Kathmandu, July 13: Deputy Leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Parliamentary Party, Ganesh Parajuli, has made it clear that the RSP has no intention of controlling the mass media.
In a discussion held by the parliamentary party with journalists reporting on parliamentary affairs on Monday, he mentioned that the role of the media is important in strengthening democracy.
