‘CDC’s role crucial for health system improvement’

Kathmandu, Sept 30: Minister for Health and Food Safety, Nisha Mehta, said the proposed Centre for Disease Control (CDC), Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) and National Health Accreditation Authority of Nepal (NHAA) would play significant role for disease control, drugs and food regulation and health service quality improvement.

She however underlined the need to protect expertise, human resource and experience of the existing institutions while constituting all three structures.

At a workshop on the establishment of CDC, FDA and NHAA here today, Minister Mehta said the regulation of drugs, vaccination, health equipment, and disease testing kits should be well regulated by removing ambiguities and inconsistencies prevailing in the drugs and food regulations. —
