Unity among progressive forces must to save Constitution: Prachanda

Birgunj, Sept 30: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has pointed out the need of unity among progressive forces to protect the Constitution.

Speaking at a programme organized by the party here Wednesday, coordinator Dahal viewed the constitutional rights including the achievements of federal democratic republic, sovereignty, secularism and the inclusive and proportional representation system should be protected and promoted for the empowerment of people.

Coordinator Dahal said, “The current political situation is complicated. Fundamental rights, independent judiciary, social justice, and the rights of Dalits, women, Madhesi and oppressed communities are facing increasing risk of curtailment.

Such achievements were made with hard struggles and sacrifices, so togetherness is needed to preserve these achievements.”

The leader, however, admitted that his party failed to effectively communicate to the public about its performance. Time has come for the country’s communist parties to once again unite and forge functional unity, Dahal underscored.

On the occasion, co-coordinator of the party, Madhav Kumar Nepal, also stressed unity among communist forces to achieve socialism based on social justice and equality.

Nepal urged party leaders and cadres to work effectively so that they could secure more number of victories in the upcoming local government elections. Leader Matrika Yadav reminded the participants to rise above personal interests and work for party and society. —
