Three more bodies recovered from Himlung avalanche

Manang, Sept 30: Three more bodies have been recovered today from among those missing following an avalanche on Mt Himlung, located in Narpa Bhumi Rural Municipality-5, Manang.

With the recovery of three more bodies, the death toll of climbers who lost their lives in the September 27 avalanche has reached seven, according to Assistant Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Paudel.

The recovered bodies are those of 58-year-old Aash Gurung from Karaunja in Dharche Rural Municipality-2, Gorkha; Suraj Rai from Aiselukharka Rural Municipality-3, Khotang; and 57-year-old Kamal Budha from Hukam, Rukum.

A special team of five experienced climbing guides, led by International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA) members Pasang Kaji Sherpa and Bikram Karki, was deployed to the site for the rescue operation. Earlier, during search operations conducted on Sunday and Monday, the bodies of Birendra Gurung, Ghanshyam Rai, Chhevi Bhote, and Pasang Bhote had been recovered. –––
