NC played crucial role in every crisis of country: Sharma

Kathmandu, Oct 4: Nepali Congress Vice-President Bishwa Prakash Sharma stressed the need of moving ahead connecting the new generation with struggles launched by the Nepali Congress established under leadership of BP Koirala.

Addressing the 15th general convention of the NC, he underlined that the NC with a 80-year history has played significant role in every crisis of the country from democratic movement.

The NC would move ahead becoming further strong, more empowered and incorporating the sentiments of the new generation along with transformation after the 15th general convention, argued the NC Vice-President. He clarified that the NC is always ready to coordinate with other parties in every step taken in favour of the country and people, stressing that all political parties should stand together on the issue of national interest and concerns.

Sharma pointed out the need of addressing the impacts of climate change in Nepal, issues raised in Madhes movement and demands of GenZ movement. Expressing the view that the state should make a policy connecting the Nepalis in home and abroad, he mentioned that issues including citizenship of non-resident Nepalis, investment and rights should be seriously addressed.

He also expressed concern over growing misuse of social media in the society, laying emphasis on the need of mutual dialogue, harmony and unity among all responsible sides in favour of country’s development and prosperity.

Underlining that the NC under leadership of Gagan Kumar Thapa has entered a new phase after the special general convention, NC Vice-President Sharma clarified that the party has moved ahead with the aim of taking the NC ahead with new concept and energy.

The 15th general convention would prepare a foundation to play effective role in country’s political, economic and social transformation making the NC organizationally further strong, he said. —
