Chitwan, Oct 6: The local entrepreneurs have met with Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) president Rabi Lamichhane to take necessary steps for controlling the Narayani River and protecting the Narayangadh market.
Local industrialists and businessmen met with the ruling RSP chairman Rabi Lamichhane to urge him to take necessary initiatives for controlling the Narayani River and protecting the Narayangadh market.
The Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry team met with the RSP president on Monday, stating that Narayangadh market and surrounding areas are at risk due to river erosion and flooding. The team has demanded urgent action, including long-term management of the Narayani River and embankments, according to the Chamber’s president, Chiranjivi Subedi.
The team met with Lamichhane, who has also serves as the member of the House of Representatives from Chitwan-2, to draw attention to the urgent need of controlling the Narayani River and the protection of the Narayangadh market.
Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Subedi, senior vice president Rajendra Oli, and a team including Suman Shrestha, a central member of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry who also served as former president, have demanded an immediate technical study of the risks caused by the Narayani River.
Businesspeople have also urged the RSP president Lamichhane to take the necessary initiative to immediately deploy a technical team from the relevant state agencies to study river erosion, the condition of embankments, and potential risks.
CCCI president Subedi informed that after a request from the businessmen, MP Lamichhane expressed his commitment to coordinate with the relevant ministers and government agencies and, after a technical study, move forward the construction of effective embankments and river management work.
Subedi informed Rastriya Samachar Samiti that Chairman Lamichhane during the meeting gave assurance that he would soon send a team to study and move the work forward. —
