NC General Convention: Voting to begin at 10:00am Thursday

Kathmandu, Oct 7: Voting under the ongoing 15th National General Convention of the Nepali Congress is scheduled to start at 10:00am on Thursday. The NC General Convention will elect a new leadership for the party from the voting by its 7,255 representatives.

According to party’s Central Election Committee’s coordinator and senior advocate Prem Khadka, though earlier schedule for the commencement of voting was 7:00am, it was postponed by three hours due to rains and some technical reasons.

Seven polling stations at three locations of Kathmandu have been fixed for the voting. For the convenience of representatives, the separate voting centres have been managed for the province and on the basis of representation.

The voting station based at the National City Hall is for representatives from the Bagamati Province, while representatives from the Koshi, Madhesh, Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces shall visit to the Khulamanch (open theatre) to cast the vote.

The Election Committee has announced that arrangements were in place for representatives from sister organizations, well-wisher organizations and Public Relations Committees for the voting at Khulamanch as well. The representatives from Gandaki and Lumbini Provinces are managed polling station at the Nepal Academy building.

Representatives from the respective provinces and clusters will visit the designated stations. According to Election Committee coordinator Khadka, voting will start at 10:00 am. Representatives require presenting their identity cards and ensuring their names is in the voter list to be eligible for taking part in the voting. —

Chalise withdraws candidacy for vice-president

Devraj Chalise who earlier registered his candidacy for the post of Nepali Congress vice-president has withdrawn candidacy in the election held under the party’s 15th General Convention.

According to the party’s Election Committee’s member-secretary Raju Katuwal, Chalise had registered his candidacy on Tuesday. He presently serves the NC spokesperson.

The voting for a new leadership in the NC is taking place on Thursday. —

NC’s 15th General Convention: Closed session passes treasurer’s report

The financial report presented by treasurer Umesh Shrestha has been passed by the closed session in the ongoing 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress today.

The financial report featured NC’s economic status, income and expenditure and financial activities. The closed session held a discussion on the document before its passage. Various reports presented in the closed session are in the line up for the endorsement. —
